We had the good fortune of connecting with Ezriel Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ezriel, what’s the most important thing you’ve done for your children?
I think the most important thing that I’ve taught my children and being a parent and making the career choices that I’ve made. Has been a decision to only worry about your self and your family instead of worrying about everyone else. You can worry yourself to death over a job that you’re easily replaceable at or you can chase your dream work twice as hard and try to achieve everything that you want and more and be irreplaceable. I used to spend so much of my time worrying about these 9 to 5 jobs that actually didn’t end up being 9 to 5 jobs they ended up being sixteeen hour days sometimes six days sometimes seven days a week endlessly stuck in the retail cycle. There was times that I missed my children’s first steps I had to work through them being sick guy was the breadwinner so we rely so much on my income that I was over caffeinated way too much and unhappy way too frequently.
By showing my children that I could stop the stigma of needing to be in that disgusting cycle and go to school for what I wanted- that I could chase what I wanted that has taught them so much more about chasing what they want. Not only by chasing the dream but by standing up for what you believe in for fighting for what’s right. I raised two little boys and have one stepdaughter and those three children no matter what are taught to love unconditionally work their hardest and not hate or be stuck in the circle of hate that is in our world today. I teach them all the time that you don’t have to be what this world paints everybody out to be you can paint your own picture.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
My art has been a challenge and passion of mine that I have battled with throughout my life. For the longest time I didn’t make art at all- but then one day I met the man of my dreams and he told me why aren’t you making things these are amazing when I showed him my own personal artwork. That little bit of faith from someone who just really started knowing me on a personal level spoke beyond what I believed it could be. So I began challenging myself I painted here and I painted there I tried different things and somethings worked and somethings didn’t. I began throwing shows in the dive bar Tradewinds social club over in Oak Cliff Texas- and began really pushing my presence on social media with my artwork I figured don’t be afraid to post anything paint what you want to paint. Because of that customer started contacting me and commissions started really making their way into my inbox. Invitations to partake in other like festivals and things like that have grown throughout the years. And I was even lucky enough to start my own LLC Ezrielsart LLC as my company to really hope to achieve what I want to do which is open a bookstore front and art gallery. My message in my art people always say that it speaks they don’t know why it speaks but it speaks to them and I try to create artwork that can speak to anybody that can appeal to anybody soul when they look at it. Some thing of emotion. Something that they can feel. This ride has not been an easy one by no means has it been easy dropping out of retail world going back to school being a mom to three kiddos doing all of the things. But this is one ride that I’ll never get off of. My life is art.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Some of the places that I would take my friend definitely brunch over in Oak Cliff in Dallas Texas love going to the local oak and then hitting some of the other various spots in that end of town. I would definitely hop on over to the Dallas Museum of Art right now they’ve got a great collection of van Goghs olive trees. Walking is always one of my favorite things so just going places and getting lost is just as much fun as going places with intent. That or just driving- just drive anywhere just go windows down radio on and just going. If I had an unlimited tank of gas in the car that would last forever that’s what I would do.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
