We had the good fortune of connecting with Eymi Faz and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Eymi, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
A part about our industry that the clients may not be aware of is the investment of time and money to be successful as a hairstylist. I take alot of pride of the end product, so it is continually necessary to keep up with trending styles and evolving products.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I started growing an interest in hair at age 10. My mother and sister both have curly textured hair. I love doing my moms hair because it gave her so much confidence. I love bringing a smile to her face! While actually grasping the knowledge of doing hair I actually learned that textured hair needed so much up keeping, not every product or technique worked on their hair. It’s not until I started highschool that I actually learned what worked for them. I started growing a passion for my work and wanted to continue growing to make other people feel beautiful and confident, just like mother and sister felt ! Now during the weekends I work with brides and quinceañeras an on my weekdays I take house calls. I love what I do. I have worked so hard and went through critiques to get where I am today . I wouldn’t trade it for the world, just getting to hear my clients saying “I feel beautiful ” etc makes my day. I learned that networking and having a passion for something you love is the key for a successful business.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Legacy west is one of my favorite areas to visit. I will love to take my best friend from of out of town to Legacy west. There’s many places to visit in that area. My favorite restaurants that I will take her is Haywire. I would love to catch up and have a great bite there. That’s not all Legacy has to offer, there’s a lot of great areas to shop at while taking in the amazing scenery, this place has to offer. Finally I will be ending the day off at one of their best spas in the area.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
First, I thank God for my success because no matter what obstacles I face, God always leads me the way. Secondly, to my mentor Masoud Habibi he deserves a shout out to my success. He is currently the owner of Amici Salon where I started working right after highschool. I started off as a shampoo assistant and from there I will help coordinate everything from bookings to root touch ups. I was only 19 at the time and to be honest I was a little scared to have any kind of conversation with clients. Masoud helped me overcome that fear and by doing so it gave me the confidence I needed. Without him pushing me to strive I feel like I wouldn’t be where I’m at now.
