We had the good fortune of connecting with Ericka Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ericka, what’s the end goal, career-wise?
My end goal is to be a nationwide brand. To effectively help men, women, boys and girls feel amazing in their skin without the fear of not being able to obtain healthy skin due to cost of products. I want to eventually have my own store front, where individuals can come in and my employees can listen and assist with their skin issues. It’s bigger than just providing people with a product, i want to offer facials using my products and inform them of best practices and routines for best results. Being in the skin care industry you see so many people wanting achieve amazing skin, but the first place they turn is putting chemicals into their bodies. I want to show people a different route. To inspire them to use what mother natures offers us as healing. With no side effects from chemicals in any of our products. The end goal is to really have a platform and huge business to really help others in a natural healthier way keep glowing beautiful, youthful skin.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business standing on it being all natural is one of the most exciting things about my business. Learning about what plants can do for our skin to heal so much is very exciting. I have never been a person that enjoyed going to a hospital and being told i need insurance but it never covers anything and so ultimately i can’t get the help i need because the medications cost more than i can afford. So learning how to treat this and that pertaining to the skin with just herbs, and flower buds, and natural butters and oils is the most amazing thing life could offer me. I get joy out of this. I get excited when i can offer something new. Even after testing it on myself (because i have the most sensitive skin in the world) and loving it i just can’t wait to release it to the public every single time. Getting where i am now seemed like it happened overnight. I lived in Milwaukee, WI. And while i was there my business wasn’t doing anything. I was distracted didn’t pay too much attention to it. Did have support that i needed or wanted. But once i moved to Texas (almost a year ago) my business took off. I had more orders than i could handle at one point. It wasn’t easy at all in either state or starting off. And it still isn’t easy because i see what the people love, and the questions being asked about my products and i want to make everyone happy. And sometimes all that success has me wondering okay whats next. But i wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.
Along the way i have met some incredible people that helped me to figure out how to grab peoples attention. Even customers stating what they feel they are missing from me. As an individual brand i listen to that and in those moments i learn more than any business school could ever teach me.

What i want the world to know about my brand is that I HEAR YOU! I am not just doing this for me but it’s for you too. I love the suggestions and i love the comments and praise of the product. And believe me when i say I have more on the way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I am still pretty new to the city of Dallas after moving here from Milwaukee, WI. But i would definitely say downtown dallas is still one of my favorite areas to be in. So much to do and see there. Definitely would say the Deep Ellum area for a nice brunch and walk after. See the artwork throughout the city. And it doesn’t seem that far of a walk to the farmers market area. Which i absolutely fell in love with. I am a huge sports girl so hanging out Hero’s next to the American Airlines stadium for lunch would be amazing. But my favorite place to be is Texas Live for the food and amazing drinks and all the sports you can take in.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to shout out to people that actually pushed me to believe in myself and get started. My amazing goal friends Lashantay Tillman and Tiara Nicole. These two women brainstormed with me in the beginning of it all and supported me from the very start and continue to do so. I don’t think i would have gotten started if it wasn’t for them. And i am forever grateful to have them on my side.

I also want to shout out my aunt Soncera Gayle because she is a constant supporter and customer. She raves about my product and what it has done for her skin. And she has always been in my corner when it seems like im going the wrong path. She offers wisdom, insight, and her constant return for more products keeps me going. Because it reminds me that I am doing something right. And my products really do work.
