We had the good fortune of connecting with Erica Taylor and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Erica, do you have any habits that you feel contribute to your effectiveness?
Hard work and prayer. I believe in dreams for with God nothing shall be impossible. But dreams come true if you are willing to work for them and make sure your trying to do something that is about more than just you.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I started Taylormade 3 years ago because I saw my community needing affordable quality mental health services. I want to make in convenient and accessible so that people could get faith, hope, and healing. It’s challenging getting people to understand the value of mental health and addressing the stigmas especially amongst minorities. I try to participate in platforms that allow me to continue to speak about it so that more people can address their past and have hope for a brighter future. I’ve learned that people need support and encouragement and I simply want to spread light and help others improve mentally. I want the world to know that healing doesn’t mean the pain never existed, it means the damage no longer has to control our lives. Resilience is a process not a trait, and that process begins by addressing your mental health. Taylormade was created to help you with the process.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We would definitely check out a restaurant in the Bishop Arts area there is so much to choose from. Do a little shopping at the Grand Prairie outlets. Check out Cork wine bar in uptown, maybe a sports bar depending on if someone is playing. We would attend Concord Church on Sunday and maybe brunch at Hero’s in victory park.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I have to dedicate this shout out to my parents. I could not ask for a better support system. Whatever I need they are always there. They encourage me to work hard and go after every dream in my heart. They model for me how imperfect people can still do great things with God. I truly am nothing without them.
