Meet Eric Trich | New Media Artist

We had the good fortune of connecting with Eric Trich and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Eric, why did you pursue a creative career?
I was inspired by my grandmother who was a painter. She encouraged me from a young age to pursue art. The ability to envision something and then manifest it into reality is extremely satisfying.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I’m a multi-disciplinary artist that utilizes technology to enhance my work. I incorporate projection mapping, augmented reality, virtual reality, and 3D printing into my art.
I’m most excited about what I’m currently working on. It’s the realization of years of experimentation
Being an artist for a living is rarely ever easy. I’ve owned an art gallery, photography studio, event space and have been in shows all over. I think being flexible and open to different opportunities has helped me get to where I am. I’ve learned so much from working with different people and diversifying my skill set.
I want to inspire people to see the potential of technology to help us elevate and express ourselves. The tools to create have never been more powerful than now. It’s truly limitless
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I’ve been fortunate to live in downtown Dallas for a long time. Deep Ellum is certainly a great place to visit and it’s more vibrant than ever. You can’t go wrong with any of the restaurants or venues there. I would also recommend the Dallas Museum of Art and the Nasher Sculpture Center. All of the parks in Dallas have become great to visit as well. So much activity and the food trucks are delicious.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I’ve collaborated with so many wonderful and talented people. Too many to list. Shout out to all the friends who have helped me with events, installations, and other projects that I certainly couldn’t have pulled off on my own.
