We had the good fortune of connecting with Endia Dawkins and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Endia, the decisions we make often shape our story in profound ways. What was one of the most difficult decisions you’ve had to make?
One of the most difficult decisions I ever had to make was stepping away from my corporate job to pursue my dreams, but it was the best decision I ever made! I’m so blessed to be able to do what I love everyday and I am a living testament that hard work and betting on yourself will work out in your favor every time.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I’m most proud of everything I’ve been able to accomplish so far in this lifetime. I’ve always been a Self Starter, like my Dad, in any position that I’ve held so my Corporate Career in Customer Service gave me an opportunity to learn the fundamentals of Business and Training which I’ve been able to apply in my Entrepreneurship Journey.
I got where I am today by being open to all the opportunities that were presented to me and networking with other creatives in the beauty industry.
While I was is Cosmetology School I attended at night, worked Full Time days, and did hair for different Fashion Events on the weekends so I rarely ever had time to hang out, but it didn’t matter cause I loved it and I still do.
I’m also now a Cosmetology Instructor at Paul Mitchell where I fell in love with this industry, I get to share my passion and inspire my students to explore all the opportunities within this industry, its one of the most fulfilling experiences and I’m honored that I get to share my knowledge with them.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I absolutely love Addison! It’s an area where a lot of young professionals reside, plenty of Restaurants and Shopping, but a couple of my favorites would be Vidorra and Sidecar Social.
I love Vidorra’s patio area, they have weekly specials, the food and drinks are amazing and its a vibe. Sidecar Social gives an elevated neighborhood bar vibe, they have games, good food, drink specials and karaoke rooms upstairs for private parties.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My faith, family and friends has kept me throughout this whole journey. I wouldn’t be where I am today without having my own personal relationship with God and the family and friends he’s blessed me with that continue to cheer me on and support me in everything I do.
