We had the good fortune of connecting with Emiko Williams and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emiko, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
Things Change!

Always maintain or create a system that keeps the business running because things do change. Clients lose their jobs, the beauty industry experience slow seasons, clients relocate, and various other reasons that can effect business.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Unlike chain salons, I give each client one-on-one attention; tailoring styles, treatments, and services to their unique beauty goals. I prioritize techniques, products, and aftercare that keeps my clients looking chic long after they leave. I’m super proud of the progress I’ve made. Relocating and starting over wasn’t easy, but I learned to keep going and stick with it because its something I really want. From luxury hair services to the expansion of Skin by Shear Chic, I’m building a full beauty destination that blends sophistication with comfort. My commitment goes beyond the chair. I believe in community, confidence, and consistency. When you leave Shear Chic, you don’t just look good, you feel unstoppable.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
When I’m not in the salon you can find me early Saturday morning at a Farmer’s Market, Saturday night at Saaya for dinner, drinks, and laughs, and Sunday morning at OCC for church and brunch somewhere immediately after lol.
