We had the good fortune of connecting with Emely Turish and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Emely, we’d love for you to start things off by telling us something about your industry that we and others not in the industry might be unaware of?
Something that people probably don’t know is how much work goes into being a social media “influencer” or content creator, as I prefer to say. To most, it might looks like so much fun to receive products for free or go to events (pre-covid). While that is very true, it’s so much more than that. There’s creating concepts for campaigns, shooting, editing, engaging with my amazing audience, researching brands, pitching my own brand, I could do on. There’s so much behind the scene that goes on.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Working in an industry where you share your life online, it is easy to start comparing yourself to others in this space. I’ve learned that you should never compare yourself, especially to anyone online. You only see a small fraction of their life. Lux and Pups is a place where you can come as you are. My goal is to always encourage women, men and non-binary people to not only accept themselves but love themselves as they are right now.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We always have a blast in Dallas! My go-to hotel is the Hyatt Regency. From there, I would suggest going to anywhere in Uptown. We usually hit up Routh Street. Highland Park Village is usually where I go for retail therapy.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Lux and Pups is my baby. I pour countless hours into it and I hope that it resonates with others. My brand would be nothing without my amazing wife, Yoli. She is the one behind the camera for most of my pictures. She has so much patience with me having to be attached to my phone. When I lost my job due to covid-19, she was the one that suggest I go full time with Lux and Pups. I will forever be grateful and put even more of myself into my brand to make her proud.
