We had the good fortune of connecting with Elizabeth Liga and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elizabeth, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
I have always run away from the idea of running a business because I thought it would be the hardest thing to do! I did not want to fail nor have to deal with disappointing my clients or myself. During the pandemic, I was furloughed and had more time on my hands, and became more resourceful. I am originally a stylist, so I focused more on creating Instagram styling videos. I always received feedback like, ” You can honestly make anything look good.” My main focus as a stylist is to ensure that everything in your wardrobe can always show up for you! One day, in my personal time during the pandemic, I revisited my idea of owning a boutique and merging it with my goals as a stylist. I did not just want to own a store full of clothes, but I also wanted to show that it can be worn in different ways and still allow you to be comfortable. I am all about comfort and style, so I wanted to bring that to life. It was a huge risk, and I was going out of my comfort zone, but It has made me a better person, and I am excited to see where The House Of Éli goes.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
Apart from being a boutique owner, I am also a personal stylist at Front Door Fashion. Being a stylist has definitely allowed me to be more confident in my craft and allowed me to know that it is okay not to be perfect! I have always worked in the retail field, so when I got my dream job as a stylist, I knew God has truly aligned with my purpose. It was not easy because my family always expected me to be in the medical field so that, I can have some sort of financial stability. This journey has thought me to believe in myself, my work before others can believe me. My family is my biggest form of support and I am so grateful that they are able to walk on this journey with me now and trust it.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my friend is around, we will go for some live music and good food! I love the XOXO room because of the amazing food and aesthetics. We would go bowling, movies and I usually go to Inwood theaters because of the couches and home feel they give. I also love Sidecar social because they play live music. I am also, more of a spontaneous girl, so it really depends on our mood 🙂
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
This is a tough one 🙂 Because a lot of people have contributed to my journey. I will honestly give a shoutout first to God, then my dad, who was my very first client as a little girl! Of course, my friends and family!
