Meet Elisha Hamilton | Licensed Esthetician

We had the good fortune of connecting with Elisha Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Elisha, how do you think about risk?
Esthetics hasn’t always been popular in every state, but now it’s very popular all around the world. The summer of 2019 I was torn between graduate school and esthetician school. Everyone thought I was insane for choosing esthetics over getting my MBA. I was already in corporate America, but the ultimate goal was to always start a business doing what I love. I knew my passion for skin would take me far, so I went to esthetician school from 6pm-10pm and I worked from 9am-5pm Monday-Friday. Not truly knowing if the money I invested into esthetician school was worth it or not was a big risk. Paying everyday bills and paying for school every month was a sacrifice and risk that I was willing to take. Taking that risk to follow my dreams led me to a journey of success.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I am a licensed esthetician in Dallas, Texas who specializes in customized skincare treatments for acne, discoloration, scarring, sensitive and aging skin using medical-grade products. I perform treatments such as microdermabrasion, high frequency, dermaplaning, chemical peels and microchanneling.
I’m most proud of my first year and a half as an esthetician. Esthetician school just teaches you the basic fundamentals of skin, so practicing on friends and doing my own research on advanced treatments and products is what helped me with my success today. I don’t have the advantage of being from Dallas, so in the beginning it was hard to build clientele and build my portfolio. After becoming a licensed esthetician I used to go back home to Mississippi once a month for a week at a time to do facials. That gave my esthetics career a jumpstart. I was able to showcase my work and help people at the same time. I’ve been able to help over 100 people feel great about themselves and that’s always my ultimate goal. I’m so thankful for my clients and my support system.
What sets me apart from others is that I listen, pay attention and find solutions. I have a product that I’m also very proud of that I released last October. My Glow on the Go toner can be used on all skin types and it targets most of my clients’ skin concerns.
I learned a few lessons along the way. I’ve learned to never allow people to tell me what I can’t do, always stay a student of the esthetics industry, and always be aware and true to me no matter what type of people I encounter. Having respect for yourself and others is very important.
I’m a reflection of my brand, Glow with Lisa. I glow internally and externally. To glow is to give light to others and I never allow people to dim my glow. Glow Studio is going to be a bigger business one day.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I don’t feel like I’ve experienced Dallas a lot, because I sometimes find it difficult to find stuff to do. I do love Aloha Thai Massage. We’d definitely start our day off with massages. We’d go to the Farmers Market then walk around Deep Ellum. We’d actually just have lunch in Deep Ellum too. I recently went to MYX Blend Bar and loved it, so we’d go there to make our lipglosses and lipsticks. Lastly, we’d get dressed up to go to dinner at Drakes.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My mom and friends supported my esthetics journey from day 1. They let me practice doing facials on them while I was in esthetician school and they all trusted my judgment on what they needed for their skin. They always told me I’d get to this point and I’m thankful for my tribe.
