Meet Ebony Richburg | Owner of Sev3ns Candles

We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Richburg and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Ebony, what do you attribute your success to?
COMPLETENESS has been the important factor behind my success and my brand. It’s crazy because after I named my company sev3ns, the number 7 in the bible represents completeness. At the beginning of my journey, I was doing this to give me something to do during our quarantine days, but the more I researched and created and put time and effort into making my candles, it turned into a passion. I gained an identity not only for myself but also for my creative side and was able to make it into a business that I love and cherish.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Sev3ns stands out not only from the unique blend of different fragrance oils mixed into one that provided an aroma that you won’t find in a bottle of fragrance oil from a supply company or another candle company. We also use 100% soy wax free of harsh chemicals, and our holographic look adds a magnificent appearance that you cannot resist. Trial & errors are bound to happen in any company, but the trick is to be open to improvements and growth. What I’ve learned is when I meet these challenges take a deep breath, and if I need to walk away for a second to regroup, then I do that. I also love Proverbs 24:16. It reminds me that no matter how many times I fall, I will always get up again. Another vital tip is to learn to keep your notes of everything you have done, so if you need to revisit where you started or critique something, you have it. Just remember, if you want something go after it! Don’t sleep on yourself because you are your own cheerleader. We are Sev3ns, and we are here to stay and revamp the candle game and bring in a new freshness in style and scents.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Dallas is filled with a lot of great entertainment! We will have to go hit up all the food trucks at the Klyde Warren Park. Go down to Deep Ellum and enjoy some dancing and street art and take pictures. We can not forget to go to the Ft. Worth zoo and check out all the animals, and of course, you can never go wrong with sitting down your adult hat and being a kid at the Playground Uptown and then do some bummer cars at pinstacks.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My hubby Darius, my mom Epenie, my kids E-Niya & Mystique, and my little sister Cabria have played a significant part in my candle journey. Not only have they pushed me to great lengths by the advice that they have provided to me, giving me feedback on my candles, teaching me how to step outside my comfort zone—just being supportive when I felt like tapping out of the ring. The list can go on and on. As for the rest of my family and friends that have been part of my hustle in a flame journey, I love you, and I thank you for supporting me.
