We had the good fortune of connecting with Ebony Parker and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Ebony, how do you define success?
I believe one can be considered successful when they have set a goal and decided to achieve it meeting many milestones along the way. As a Residential Loan Officer, some may consider one successful based on the amount of income earned yearly, however, I like to take a different approach. I decided to journey this career path as I wanted to normalize homeownership for my peers and I believe I have eaten away at this goal significantly. Have I reached my ultimate definition of success as a LO? No, however, it is like eating an elephant, I am taking one bite at a time and hoping to not only assist my peers but generations to come.
What should our readers know about your business?
I am a Residential Loan Officer operating as Home Loans with Ebony under the umbrella of Reliable Lending. I believe the primary things that set me apart from other are my values. In the industry of residential loans it is easy for some LO’s to lose sight of the person purchasing the home. I pride myself on offering customer service that far supersedes clients expectations and taking on the responsibility of not only assisting with the loan but educating each client along the way so that they are informed and excited about their decision. I do my best to take a process that can be overwhelming and make it seamless and stressless.
I became a loan officer because I realized the need of someone in the industry that cared about the community versus just closing on a home. I had purchased 2 homes of my own and realized, no one had educated me and I really didn’t know what I was doing. I was simply operating on faith because I was ignorant about many of the documents I had signed. Therefore, I made a vow to make sure to educate myself and spread that same educational awareness to others as I wanted homeownership to be normalized. The journey to becoming a loan officer was not easy, yet it has been rewarding.
During this journey I have learned many lessons, some which are great and some not so great. However, I am grateful for every lesson and looking forward to continuing to spread awareness while working my way to become a brand that is recognized and connected whenever a person thinks of purchasing a home. I desire to create such great connections that every client can’t wait to excitingly spread the news by recommending me to every family member and friend so that we can take pride in our communities again and begin creating generational wealth for littles ones coming after us all.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I have tons of little jewels I enjoy visiting in the city as I love a good park and brunch/happy hour. I love taking scenic runs and walks at Cedar Ridge Preserve, White Rock Lake, Kiest Park and sitting outside Kidds Springs overlooking the pond. Some of the my favorite places to hang are in Bishop Arts as I like to frequent my community. Lately, I have enjoyed Friday evenings (early hours) with my family at Chicken and Pickle so they can burn energy while enjoying dinner.
Depending on the friend visiting, I am a huge supporter of the small business community as well, therefore I would definitely take them by Vegan Food House, Kessler Baking Studios, and The Island Spot as those are all my go to places.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
In life we wear many hats and I know there is no way that I would have achieved any of the success I have if it weren’t for my support system which consist of my spouse and brokerage. As a mother, wife, property manager, and more, there just aren’t enough hours in the day quite often. However, my support system has stepped up many times as I have an AWESOME processor which assist with getting every client to the finish line as well as my broker. My family assist by continuously picking up some of my other responsibilities outside of the loans.
