We had the good fortune of connecting with Dylan Giddens and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dylan, where are your from? We’d love to hear about how your background has played a role in who you are today?
I was born in Port Saint Lucie, Florida and moved to Austin, Texas when I was five years old. I would say my father had a major impact in my music career today. He exposed me to many great bands and started teaching me how to play drums from a super young age. Playing drums turned into guitar, bass, and singing and that was how I would eventually discover my love for audio engineering!
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am an audio engineer and musician! I take pride in my attention to detail and just loving music more than anybody. The road to where I am today was paved with hard work and trying to learn as much as I can everyday from awesome mentors and surrounding myself with professionals better than I. My start in audio engineering was learning how to record myself and when I didn’t like what I heard, trying to figure out how to make it sound better. It was years of trial and error and trying to learn everything I could. Not everyone discovers what they love to do in life, what drives them forward and inspires them and I was lucky enough to find out from an early age. I can honestly see myself doing this forever!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to show them my favorite concert venue Come And Take It Live. Almost every show I go to is hosted there and it just has the best people and the best vibe. Next, I would recommend a walk down the historic Congress Avenue to visit the many unique shops and restaurants. If you enjoy nature, I would tell you to check out Mayfield Park in the Tarrytown district. It has waterfront hiking trails, and a garden with koi ponds and peacocks. Austin is a very busy and exciting city with stuff to do every night of the week.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely say my entire family deserves a shoutout for supporting me every step of the way. My dad for teaching me to play drums and insuring an interest in music, my mother for encouraging me when I was discouraged, my two brothers for always listening to the music i’ve worked on, my best friends Benjamin and Chandler for always supporting me, my friends in Hatewaker for being great friends and ever better people to work with, and everyone that has been here for me and taken interest in what i’m doing. I love you all and thank you so much!
