We had the good fortune of connecting with Dyan McNeely and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dyan, what is the most important factor behind your success?
I believe the most important factor behind my success with McNeely Photography is the support from my husband, three daughters, my family, and my best friend and fellow photographer, Lauren. Without them, I do not know if I would have had the courage to start my own company.

Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
In 2007, I worked at Picture People in San Diego where I found my passion for photography. At that time, I realized I loved seeing the eyes of children light up when you snapped a portrait of them. Being able to capture such a memory and preserve it in time is what McNeely Photography is all about. That elegant, classic, and memorable moment that will last a lifetime.

Photography helped me get through dark times in my life especially when I was temporarily paralyzed due to an injury in late 2007, early 2008 and when my father passed away from suicide in 2008. Without photography and the ability to have portraits, I would never have the images of my father that I am able to carry with me for the rest of my life.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
In DFW, I would definitely say Ninja Sushi in Arlington. The restaurant has an amazing sushi and hibachi buffet. Afterwards, I would take my family and friends to Rockledge Park in Grapevine and enjoy the scenery of Grapevine Lake. Visiting Six Flags and Hurricane Harbor are a must especially in the Texas heat!

As for Kansas City, I would say going to the Kansas City Speedway. I am a Nascar fan and would love to show my family and friends a great time at the speedway.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I believe my husband, children, and best friend Lauren along with my clients are the key to the success of McNeely Photography.

My husband and children are always my rock in everything I do. With their love and support, I am able to accomplish all my dreams and more.

Lauren Archibald from Archie’s Views and I have collaborated in countless projects and photoshoots in the past and more recently have started our own co-company Tru Picture Perfection. Lauren has been there to help mentor me in the aspects of business photography.

Lastly, without my clients I would never be where I am today. Their ultimate love and support is what helps McNeely Photography continue to offer our services to the DFW and Kansas City areas.
