Meet Dwayne Kidd | Chef Dj & Scholarship Fund Owner

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dwayne Kidd and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dwayne, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
It was very easy because I always cook for everyone once I knew I could cook . I started cooking at 17 years old. I already had clients
family and friends. But I took my time and got everything I needed to start my business little by little. I work doing Home Health Care at the same time were I could afford to get the things that I would need to open up my catering company. I work over 70 hours a week. To make sure I made what I needed to start my business and be able to also afford my lifestyle. In 2 years I had got everything that I needed to open up my catering company. I was very excited and proud of myself business took off very fast why I was working I had also did chef jobs on the side. So I end up building up a clientele once I was able to have everything I needed to cater I end up catering my first event it was for 100 people for a wedding I was very excited and amazed.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
When I cook I cook with love that what make me stand out I put my whole heart in to cooking food it is my life and a great passion that I have. I specialize in Soul Food and Seafood. My recipes are mostly my grandmother she told me everything about cooking. I have been blessed to travel around this world and cook in different states. I do not take it lightly I know it’s a blessing. My food have touched many people heart in life and have brought them so much happiness in the moments that they needed it the most.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If one of my friend would come visit me in Dallas. I would taking them out to eat at Texas De Brazil Restaurant that one of my favorite places to eat. I would taking them dance at the Blues Palace, Shopping at Northpark Mall. Hopefully the Dallas Mavericks would be playing because I love basketball games. If it’s a pleasant day outside I would also take them fishing at Lake Ray Hubbard one of my favorite places to fish and relax.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
1st God have opened so many doors for me been a chef I will forever be grateful to him.
