We had the good fortune of connecting with Dreka Inez and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dreka, maybe we can start at the very start – the idea – how did you come up with the idea for your business?
At the beginning of the pandemic, I was in an abusive relationship that went astray and my children and I were kicked out of their home. I stayed in a hotel for a week, and then found AirB&B’s to make home until I found a permeant one. At this time my children were virtual learning, I was working full time, all while trying to find a home. I began to record my journey, without saying I was “homeless”, but showing my growth and process of making it through my storm. Everyday I would post a “Message of the day” and from that grew what I have created today. A month after staying in AirB&B’s I found a home. I kept creating, recording, editing at work and posting until I created the platform that I have now. A phone and Wi-Fi is all I had and that is what created the motivational and uplifting platform that I have today.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I am the most proud of my creativity. I honestly got to where I am today by just doing it. Just do it. Regardless of how you feel, regardless of whether you think people will understand or like it, just do it! The only person holding you back is you. Creating this platform wasn’t and still isn’t easy because I don’t follow trends. I don’t eat, I don’t do pranks, I don’t create drama, I stay in my own lane and do my own thing. I overcame the urge to be like everyone else just to be successful when I realized I’m not like everyone else. My journey is my own. I want the world to know that the best is yet to come for me, remember my name.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was visiting I would definitely get an AirB&B in downtown Dallas. We would go for brunch at my favorite gem Chelsea Corner. We would then visit the Museum of Illusions. Lastly, I would end the day by going to The Woolworth, which is, in my opinion, the best rooftop bar with a gorgeous view and good food and drinks

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to personally thank my children for always supporting and uplifting me. They are my ride-or-dies to the core. We have been through so much together that absolutely nothing and no one could ever break us.
