We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Rachel Sims LPC and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Rachel, we’d love to start by asking you about lessons learned. Is there a lesson you can share with us?
The most important lesson my career has taught me is the power of resilience and adaptability. Building and managing multiple businesses—Breath by Design and Uncomplicated Therapy—has shown me that success isn’t a straight path. Challenges and setbacks are inevitable, but it’s how we respond to them that defines our journey.

Resilience means staying committed to your vision even when the road gets tough, while adaptability allows you to pivot and evolve in response to new circumstances. In my practice, I’ve had to balance traditional therapeutic methods with innovative holistic approaches, and this balance has only been possible by remaining flexible and open to new ideas.

I’ve learned that the ability to adapt isn’t just about surviving challenges; it’s about thriving in the face of them. Whether it’s managing the complexities of running a business with my mother, Lisa Young, or integrating new modalities like 9D Breathwork, the key to success lies in staying resilient, embracing change, and continuously learning and growing from every experience.

What should our readers know about your business?
Breath by Design, co-founded with my mother, Lisa Young, stands out in the holistic healing landscape with our exclusive offering of 9D Breathwork. As the only company in the DFW area providing this innovative practice, we’re proud to offer a transformative experience that sets us apart.

9D Breathwork integrates sound, light, vibration, and aromatherapy to create a multi-sensory healing experience that addresses a wide range of emotional and physical issues. By engaging multiple senses simultaneously, 9D Breathwork facilitates deeper emotional release and physical healing than traditional methods. This approach helps clients connect with their inner selves on a profound level, addressing stress, trauma, chronic pain, anxiety, and more.

I’m most excited about the way 9D Breathwork offers a comprehensive solution for holistic healing. The immersive nature of our sessions allows for a more profound exploration of one’s inner landscape, enabling clients to achieve a greater sense of balance and well-being. Our commitment to this advanced practice reflects our dedication to providing the most effective and innovative healing experiences available.

The journey to establishing Breath by Design has taught me the value of embracing innovation and staying true to our vision. Through perseverance and a deep commitment to holistic practices, we’ve created a space where individuals can embark on a meaningful journey towards self-healing and transformation. Our goal is to help clients unlock their innate healing potential and live a life of fulfillment and balance.

As the saying goes, “Mothers stand still so their daughters can run.” Lisa’s strength and dedication provided me with the solid ground I needed to pursue my dreams, and now, we are running this path together. Her blend of business acumen and deep commitment to holistic healing has not only shaped our company’s success but has also empowered me to embrace my role fully. Her influence is felt in every step we take, and I am profoundly grateful for her guidance and partnership in this incredible journey.

I also want to recognize the incredible healers who have been instrumental in my growth—Anita Brown, Chelbe Kinslow, Krista Wagber, Rose Kinslow, Jenny Connolley, Valerie Wagberg, and many others. Each has contributed uniquely to my understanding of holistic healing, and their guidance has enriched my personal and professional life.
