Meet Dr. Marilyn Carroll: Career Consultant

We had the good fortune of connecting with Dr. Marilyn Carroll and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dr. Marilyn, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
We help to train people on how to re-enter the work force or experience a career rebirth in their profession, business or non profit ventures. The re-birth helps them to become more optimistic, Resilient, hopeful, and understand who they are and what they want to accomplish at this particular time in their life cycle. 

What should our readers know about your business?
Carroll Beck, LLC business model focuses around using research based solutions to help clients experience desired changes in their business, careers and personal endeavors. We got where we are today by using what we have to help one client at a time. We have been helping clients collectively for over 15 years. While working as an executive in Banking and Finance, I saw the need to offer career consulting to individuals who did not understand the art of working in today’s businesses. Lessons I have learned along the way include: people first profits will come, Health first, you can’t help others if your Health is bad. Family is important, you need them in when things are good, bad and seemly unbearable. Finally, understand the the role each friend plays in your life. They are part of your tribe. I am a God fearing person, I look at life and each situation as it comes to me. I ask God for guidance in all that I do. He comes first in my life. All that I do and that I am I praise God for it. I use the gifts I have been given to help others through love, respect and honesty in my actions with all.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would have to take the to my church, Oak Cliff Bible Fellowship Church to worship if not in person then virtually. To Austin to listen to live music, to Houston to check out the beach and the downtown area, next stop San Antonio to the Riverwalk, in Dallas to Deep Ellum, Kyld Warren Park, Perry’s Steakhouse Fort Worth stock yard and to visit the various businesses in Fort Worth. Finally, the restaurants, depending on the season, a Basketball, Football, Baseball, or Hockey game and business around American Air Lines. All visits would be based on the rules and cautions surrounding social distancing in place at the time.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Yes, my shoutout is to RIP Ruth Bader Ginsburg, “The Notorious R.B.G.” A woman who used her platform for the good of others. She didn’t stop at just making it for herself, she helped others through the use of her knowledge, skills, talents and abilities.
