We had the good fortune of connecting with Donna Fisher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Donna, putting aside the decision to work for yourself, what other decisions were critical to your success?
Working for yourself is not entirely accurate! “Working” in general means, giving your time to someone or something else, so in working for yourself you have a little more control over who, what and where you give your time. The single most important thing I have done is to ACCEPT help. Allowing the process of independency to evolve into community.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
FBH Wellness started out in 1999 as For Better Health is now all under one roof. We have a collaborative team of professionals that work together. Our staff constantly confers together to shepherd the client toward their goals. The benefit is the mindshare between Pilates, Muscle activation technique, Chiropractic, yoga, massage, nutrition and personal training experts.
Our team at FBH Wellness has a wide variety of expertise in a range of areas of wellness. Since 1999, we’ve offered superior service and the necessary guidance to improve our clients’ overall health and wellness.
I am most proud of how hard we fought during Covid to stay open but also in the unique ways we held onto each other to stay motivated together.
Getting to where I am today…. is very simple ONE DAY AT A TME. Never easy, always a mind game of trying to celebrate the small things along the way and look back and remind yourself of where you have been, where you are and where you want to go!
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Early Morning trail run/walk at Arbor Hills, followed by breakfast at Ascension, a nap, then Yoga class FBH Wellness ending with a body rolling session. Evening would include sitting outside at Postino for dinner and time with friends. Over the course of the week it would include, Trip to Simple Veda for little TLC Treatments and then lunch on Knox Henderson area. Biking on Katy Trail and spa treatments, with a movie and meet ups at Klyde Warren park riding the trolley!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Lets just say that because we are a community studio there is a army of people beside me that have carried this business through many tough times. From hard working staff to generous supporters, passionate wellness providers and consistent loyal clients.
