We had the good fortune of connecting with Don Ulysse and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Don, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
Honestly, my thought process behind starting a creative business which consist of photography and creative direction.. is that I know I enjoy planing and executing creative shoots, so I wanted to be able to help small businesses and those that are already established execute their vision by telling the story of their brand through images. I believe so many times we look at an image and we can already tell the story behind it, that’s exactly what I wanted to do, create stories through images without having to speak!

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I believe anyone who’s in the art/creative field you’re going to experience challenges because this a field where it can be mistakenly overlooked, so many people don’t know the blood, sweat, tears that goes on behind the scenes to make a client’ brand look great or to even be able to tell someone’s story through content creation. The way that I overcome challenges is by knowing that there will also be challenges in life and that you should always focus on the mission and not give up.

There are so many talented photographers out there, but I believe what sets me apart is that I am not afraid to take risk and be different, if I envision something even if I don’t know how to do it yet, best believe I’ll find a way to get it done.

I got to where I am at today professionally, by being consistent and keeping up with what’s trending.

Some of the lessons I’ve learned along the way is that things won’t always be what you envision it to be, or certain things won’t come as fast as you would hope it to come, but believe and one day you will say to yourself “I remember when I prayed for times like this.”

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
That’s a really great question! I have so many places I can think of. We would start the day off by going to Bruncheon in Richardson, they have really great breakfast and they’ve opened for about a year I believe. Up next I would give them a tour around the city— visit the Dallas Museum of Arts (I swear I’ve been to the DMA at least 100 times) the art is timeless. After that we would grab lunch at Meat U Anywhere BBQ in Grapevine, simply because they have the best BBQ ribs, and at last, maybe attend an event in Downtown Dallas, there is always something going on downtown. So this is what my itinerary would look like!

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I wouldn’t be able to accomplish half of the things I’ve accomplished without God, so all thanks to the most high. Fast forward, throughout my journey, I’ve had many people who has helped get to where I am and truthfully, I am still on my way to where I envisioned myself to be, but I am thankful for my family and close friends, for their support and encouragement. I don’t have specific names, however those that have supported me throughout my journey knows who they are!
