We had the good fortune of connecting with Dominique Deon and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dominique, how do you think about risk?
Risk has gotten my Personal Training business YouNiqueBodies to where it is today. I made a plan at the beginning of 2019 to be a fitness coach starting January 2020. I was extremely excited, yet scared of failure at the same time. I could feel that the timing was perfect, but then COVID hit and the pandemic started. I started to give up because of all the disadvantages of being on lockdown during the pandemic. Since personal training is preferred in person, I didn’t think starting a business during the pandemic would be smart. I took the risk anyways and kept pushing forward. I modified by business transitioning to all virtual trainings. I received my first virtual client shortly after during the pandemic and the rest is history. YouNiqueBodies is a successful personal training business specializing in body-weight toning with guaranteed results for virtual and in-person clients. If it is a postivie risk, I say go for it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
YouNiqueBodies is a personal training business that specializes in body-weight toning to the beat of music. At YouNiqueBodies we believe that every body is unique. Your body, your journey. My ability to build a positive relationship with each individual client and produce results no matter their history in fitness is what set me apart from other personal trainers. I’m not in this business for a paycheck. I am here to change lives and encourage all things health and wellness. I am most proud of my journey as an entrepreneur. I started at the bottom and now I am a small business owner and growing each day. I got to where I am today by the grace of God. My faith has gotten me this far. I started my business literally 2 months before COVID-19 hit which came with many challenges. We had to quarantine in which all clients had to be switched to virtual. I lost many clients who did not want to train virtually. I couldn’t afford the gym anymore that I was training at, but through it all I prayed continuously. I didn’t let those challenges stop me and I thank God for being with me every step of the way. Throughout my journey I have learned my purpose in life and that’s to coach all things health and wellness to all my beautiful kings and queens. I want the world to know that giving up is easy, but consistency in whatever area bring forth results.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
Social Dallas(church)/Ebb and Flow for brunch/ wine and girl talk/ movie night/Hike Cedar Ridge Preserve/Cava(lunch)/Sidecar Social/Walk Deep Ellum/White Rock Lake Picnic/Rooftop Dinner at Sky Blossom/ Kona grill happy hour/ a few workouts with YouNiqueBodies/Vidorra (dinner/lunch)

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I want to start off by thanking Robert Palmer at Be Exceptional Fit. He is my mentor and business coach and guided me through the steps on becoming an entrepreneur when my personal training business was just a thought. I also want to thank my mentor Lee Ann at Body By Lee for always being a helping hand. For always being an example and always setting high expectations.
