We had the good fortune of connecting with Dina Elsaid and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Dina, what role has risk played in your life or career?
Life is more flavorful with calculated risks, in my opinion. Calculated in a constructive manner, because you can never really control the outcome, but you also don’t want to give up on an idea too early in the making, when fear and disappointment start to creep in.
Another thing I learned through experience and situations and hardships I faced, that even if the outcome seems like a failure, it is not. Imagine all the new things you learned and skills you gained, just by having an idea and decided to work on it.
My biggest risk of all, was leaving the comfort of my home country and moving to the USA with my now ex-husband 11 years ago. I’m grateful I took that huge risk. I learned a lot, became more resilient and even better at problem solving.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
I am still a work in progress. Still learning and evolving, and I believe that this mindset sets me apart. Keeping the student spirit and an open mind to accept new ideas, become more inclusive and empathetic.
My main business is real estate, but I’m also an artist, and one of the things I learned in the past months is how creative real estate can be. Every client has their own expectations, budget and limitations, and as a creative Realtor I help them find the right match.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
We are blessed with lots of interesting and fun things here in the DFW area, and I’m so glad you asked me that question, I should be preparing a list of must-dos, for when my sister visits anyway, so 2 birds 1 stone. I would start with Plano, my city of excellence.
Legacy west and shops at Legacy, have an amazing variety of restaurants and boutiques. Plano comedy club might have a good show that week, if not we can go to legacy hall, grab a bite, and listen to a live band.
Historic downtown McKinney is another great place to visit. I would highly recommend Bresnan Bakery, my mouth’s watering as we speak. Jump into art studio is a hidden gem for creatives there.
Heading to Dallas, I would take her to the DMA, Nasher sculptor garden and Klyde Warren park. Walk around Deep Ellum and admire the wall murals and probably eat at Nori handroll sushi.
I would plan an entire day for Bishop arts. I simply love it there.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My kids deserve the biggest shoutout of all. The past few years were hard on us. Every time I feel discouraged, overwhelmed or not able to keep up, I look at them and I feel calm, warm, and ready to keep going. I’m blessed to know lots of amazing people.
The supportive and welcoming ladies of Junior League of Collin County. I’m glad I am actively one of them for 2 years now.
My amazing Realtor friend Brenda Rogers. A very resourceful and genuinely caring person, who also introduced me to Melissa Hailey, my broker and great educator, who I dedicate a big shoutout to, too.
