We had the good fortune of connecting with Diamond Bell and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Diamond, can you share a quote or affirmation with us?

“It’s never too late-never too late to start over, never too late to be happy.”- Jane Fonda

When was younger I used to feel like starting over meant I failed. But once I grew up (matured) I realized that starting over isn’t a bad thing, at all! Sometimes starting over is a great thing, and when you start over; you are not starting over from scratch you are starting over from experience. And with that experience you can either make it a good one or bad one, it’s all up to you!

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?

From working in my family Janitorial business at 16 to working 3 jobs at one time and now running my own business I will say it has not been easy. There were days and nights I did not sleep and even some holidays I missed and even though I was tired, it made me stronger and wiser. I have learned many skills and because of this I have been blessed to work with many people and along the way have made friends in great places.

What I want the world to know about me, my story, and my business is that even when it seems like there’s no way, there is! I have had so many wonderful jobs and amazing opportunities, even when I knew I was not qualified or deserving of them, but because of them they have made me into the woman you see today! I want the readers to know that my business was not built over night and even though It’s small & still growing I do what I do every day because I want to see other entrepreneurs like me make it. I do this for the love of people and not a quick check.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.

One thing about living in Memphis, TN, there is always something to do! From Grizzly basketball games, walking down Beale Street and listening to the live bands, especially at the B.B. King restaurant. Riding the horse carriage through the Botanical Gardens and Downtown, watching the Duck Walk at the World-Famous Peabody Hotel. Riding the trolley and watching the Mississippi River and bridge light up at night. Some of my favorite places to have lunch and dinner at are Babalu’s, Sweet Noshing’s, Side Street Grill, Reservations Bar, and SALT.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?

I want to give a shoutout to my mom & sister for believing in me from the very start, for investing in me & my business and still pushing me to be my very best every day! Also, to Maylesha Carter, Miles Brown, Teresa Azinge, Tiffany Pierce, Tania Sanni, Janette Knight & Cory Grier and to the rest of my family and friends for their love, support, & prayers. Last but certainly not least, a BIG shoutout to the little lady in my life, my daughter, Amari Noelle. There have been so many days when I wanted to give up and give in and it’s because of her I have not and will not!
