We had the good fortune of connecting with Denise Huginnie and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Denise, how does your business help the community?
Impact Focus connects mission-driven organizations, financial institutions and corporations that seek to positively impact society through sustainable programs related to youth development, financial literacy, workforce development, housing and community development. We also specialize in creating social impact partnerships and outreach programs for credit unions and community banks that leverage today’s cutting edge technology. Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Much of our current work is related to COVID-19 recovery in the economy. There has been a dramatic impact on both for-profit and non-profit organizations. We specialize in the development of strategic plans, business plans, grant and loan applications, donor prospecti and other financing proposals. Through working in partnership with CEOs for more than 25 years, our unique focus is capacity building for organizations. We do this through training and development, staff augmentation, and outsourcing services that ultimately lead to a stronger, more capable organization. Throughout a varied career I have provided budgeting, financial analysis, business planning, strategic planning, new business development, and interim management services in a wide range of contexts, including tech startups, nonprofits, government, healthcare, education, and financial institutions.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I like to visit small towns like Weatherford. It’s a nice break from the hustle and bustle of suburban and big city life. The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I want to give a shout out to Renee Sattiewhite, President &CEO of the African-American Credit Union Coalition. Under her visionary leadership, she has successfully accelerated donations and earned income and created sustainable national partnerships. Her groundbreaking work includes the Commitment to Change: Credit Unions Unite Against Racism initiative. During the COVID-19 pandemic and following the death of George Floyd, she launched a highly commended series of Commitment to Change Virtual Events, including a 5-Day Virtual Series attracting a national and international audience. However, most folks admire Renee for lifting up young professionals in the credit union movement, through internships, mentorships and professional development programs and her own personal involvement. She is a pacesetter and a thought leader that must be recognized and acknowledged.
