We had the good fortune of connecting with Deborah Julmus and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Deborah, can you talk to us a bit about the social impact of your business?
At the heart of our work is the belief that healthy homes change everything. Better Homes Counseling Services exists to strengthen individuals, marriages, and families by addressing emotional wellness at the root. We serve clients who are often navigating generational patterns, trauma, faith questions, and relational strain. Through accessible, culturally responsive therapy, we help people build emotional skills that don’t just improve their own lives but positively impact their children, their relationships, and the communities they live in. When healing happens in the home, it ripples outward.
Mami Monday extends that mission beyond the therapy office. It creates intentional space for women and mothers to gather, speak honestly, and feel less alone. Many women carry silent burdens while holding families together. Mami Monday disrupts that isolation by offering connection, education, and encouragement in community-centered settings. It normalizes conversations around mental health, identity, motherhood, and healing in a way that feels welcoming and real.
Together, these two arms work hand in hand. One provides clinical care and structure. The other builds community and belonging. The social impact is generational. We are helping families heal, women find their voice, and communities grow healthier from the inside out.

What should our readers know about your business?
My work sits at the intersection of healing, family, faith, and community. Better Homes Counseling Services was built on the belief that therapy should feel both clinically sound and deeply human. We focus on the emotional health of individuals, couples, and families with an emphasis on generational healing and strengthening the home. What sets us apart is that we don’t just treat symptoms. We help people understand patterns, rebuild trust, and develop practical tools they can carry into everyday life. Our work is culturally responsive, values-driven, and rooted in the understanding that emotional health impacts every area of life.
Mami Monday grew out of what I kept seeing in the therapy room. Women, especially mothers, were carrying silent loads with very little support. Mami Monday creates community outside of therapy. It is a space for connection, honest conversation, education, and encouragement. It meets women where they are and reminds them they don’t have to carry everything alone. Together, these two platforms allow me to serve both clinically and communally, which is something I’m deeply proud of.
Getting here was not easy. The journey involved building while learning, starting before things felt perfect, and staying committed even when growth felt slow or uncertain. There were seasons of exhaustion, doubt, and stretching beyond comfort. I overcame those challenges by staying anchored in purpose, surrounding myself with support, and allowing the vision to evolve without abandoning the mission. I learned that clarity often comes through action, not waiting. Consistency matters more than perfection. And sustainable success requires boundaries, humility, and community.
What I want the world to know about my brand and story is this: healing is possible, and it starts at home. My work is not about quick fixes or polished appearances. It is about real transformation, honest conversations, and building healthier families one step at a time. Everything I create is rooted in the belief that when people are supported, seen, and emotionally equipped, they change their homes, and in turn, their communities.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
My shoutout goes to my husband, Christopher Julmus. He was the one who saw me before I fully saw myself. Long before the titles, the businesses, or the platforms existed, he recognized the calling on my life and spoke life into it with consistency and patience. He has been a steady partner in every sense, offering encouragement when the vision felt heavy and grounding when the work felt overwhelming.
Behind the scenes, he has been a sounding board, a strategist, and a source of unwavering belief. He has helped shape ideas into action and never hesitated to support visions that were bigger than just us, visions meant to impact families, women, and communities. His willingness to create space for my growth and to walk alongside me has made it possible for my work to reach others in meaningful ways.
This journey has never been a solo one. His love, sacrifice, and faith in what we are building together deserve recognition, and I am deeply grateful for the role he continues to play in both my personal life and the work I do every day.
