We had the good fortune of connecting with Dara Whitley and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dara, how has your background shaped the person you are today?
Originally I am from Washington, DC! Washington DC is full of adventure and different cultures. Being from a big melting pot, I strive to build a page that is welcoming of everyone and full of life/fun. I also come a very close knit family. Growing up I have the best memories of game nights, summer vacations, Christmas cookie decorating, and more! I started my page on Instagram and Pinterest to share all the fun and adventure my family has and provide a sense of community where parents of all styles can come together.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a motherhood creator. I use social media platforms like Instagram and Pinterest to showcase crafts, recipes, fun activities, kids mental health, and all things motherhood! I started during the Pandemic and it has not been easy. It can be hard when you see others grow faster than you or land brand campaigns and you aren’t. I have learned to enjoy and create based on myself and my family, not trying to replicate or keep up with others! I have been fortunate enough to align myself with some amazing brands all while enjoying life with my son.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
1. Rise and Shine! I would love the start the day out with a Pilates class at Century Pilates.

2. A great workout deserves a great breakfast at Ida Claire or Sixty Vines

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Shoutout to my parents who have always showered me with support, instilled a great work ethic in me, and provided an example of what it means to be a family. Also shoutout to my son who made me a mom and is the focus of why I do what I do! Life would not be as fun without him.
