We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Medlock and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Danielle, is there something that you feel is most responsible for your success?
Being authentic and honest with my clients and followers is so important to me. Having a social media presence that people can relate to is what drives others to reach out to me. It’s important to me that when you hear the name Dani & Co. Events you know who I am and what I am about. I’m still learning and as I learn my followers learn.

What should our readers know about your business?
In March of 2017 I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. After the diagnosis I was optimistic. I was like, “I got this I’m not worried.” Shortly after I started feeling the most horrible pain in my legs that I ever felt. I went back to the doctor and they said it was nerve pain related to the MS. I would wake up in pain so bad that i couldnt even cry myself to sleep(still do 🙄) Then started the Insomnia. Sometimes I would go days without sleeping. Then there are the Migraines. Oh the Migraines! It just seems to come and go as it pleases. I can go on and on about the things that have happened to me. I been to the hospital probably over 30 times since being diagnosed. I’ve had 8 MRIs and they all say the same thing MS. No matter how hard I try to forget about it or make it go away it won’t. It’s apart of me it’s who I am now. I spent so long trying to be strong for my family that I hadn’t processed what was happening to me. Either way I took a leap of faith and started my business. I have no business experience but I’m perfecting my craft and learning everyday! It’s definitely trial and error but I have never been one to back down from a problem. I build the perfect memories for my clients and I pride myself on being knowledgeable and affordable for all clients. Things don’t always work out how we want them to and that’s ok. God knows what is best for us even when we don’t.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I absolutely love to eat! I’m a total foodie! I love going to the different food trucks at Klyde Warren Park. I enjoy downtown Dallas as well and my ideal day would be exploring the unknown parts of downtown like the Bishop Arts District Murals!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My family are my biggest supporters! I’m so blessed to have a family that believes in my dreams just as much as I do! They are always on standby to support me wether it’s helping with an event or encouraging me when I face obstacles. Also, living with a chronic illness has pushed me to take a leap of faith and enjoy every moment in life. “Success is never owned, it is rented. And the rent is due EVERYDAY!” Being a business owner can be scary, confusing, tiring and sometimes even frustrating. But I live for the joyous moment of seeing a smile on a clients face when I have turned their vision into a reality. I truly love and enjoy what I do and I wouldn’t change it for the world. I’m truly blessed to have a supportive family who encourages me to reach for the stars. I thought Multiple Sclerosis would slow me down but it’s only made me work harder. I’m determined to reach the level of success I’ve dreamed of. I won’t let anything or anyone keep me from shining my light!
