We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Hamilton and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Danielle, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
When I started my business, about 5 years ago, I was a young mom of two with no college degree and basically no trade skills. I had started a part time job but that was barely covering daycare costs. It just wasn’t the fulfilling career I was looking for and it definitely wasn’t filling my pockets! Honestly, Awe and Order wasn’t even my idea. My sister saw my potential and knew I had a unique skill that could be used to serve others. She suggested that I start my own business and well, the rest is history.
What should our readers know about your business?
Awe and Order is a professional home organization business based out of DFW. I grew this business from scratch so it is my baby! I pour my heart into what I do and serving others. It really is the coolest thing to be able to fuse my work and my passion, I mean, what a dream come true! I firmly believe that if my heart wasn’t behind this, Awe and Order wouldn’t have made it this far. There have been times when I’ve felt defeated, like maybe I’m wasting my time chasing this dream. It’s easy to start spiraling after a slow month! But then I’m on a job and a client says something like “You have changed my life” or “I think I love you” (yes, that has truly been said to me, more than once!) and I’m reminded that my work has purpose.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Fortunately for me, we live near some of the best shops and restaurants so this is an easy one. Grandscape just put up an enormous ferris wheel with enclosed gondolas that have glass floors so that would be at the top of the list. Right down the road there’s a neat little pizza place called Heritage Pizza. We love taking our kids there because not only is the food great, but they also have a playground where the kids can run off some energy. Another great restaurant to take the family is Nerdvana in Frisco. Each table has their own gaming system set up or they have board games to choose from so everyone stays entertained! In The Colony, there is a hidden gem that I am almost hesitant to write about because I don’t want them to get too busy for me but if you’re in the area, you have to try The Rice Bar. It’s a family-owned Korean restaurant and the food is to die for. And if it’s too early for rice, they are a donut joint in the morning!
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Here comes the cheesy: this would’ve never been possible with the support of my husband, Trey. He has always backed me in every business decision I make. In the beginning, I didn’t have a lot of revenue coming in. I was still trying to build a name for myself and gain the trust of clients. Trey has never complained about being the financial backbone of our family so I can chase my dreams. It is such a blessing to have a partner like him.
