We had the good fortune of connecting with Danielle Deihl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Something I am proud of is that my accounts are authentic to me. All of the videos and pictures are ones I have taken at places I’ve visited. It is certainly not always easy maintaining a public platform, and I sometimes question if a picture is worth posting or if I’m wording a caption the right way. When I find myself in that headspace, I step back and remind myself that at the end of the day this is a source of joy for me. It doesn’t have to be perfect and I don’t have to worry about catering it to any specific audience. I appreciate being able to post whatever media I choose whenever I want to. I’m grateful for every person that engages with my content and I hope it inspires them to visit new restaurants and support local businesses.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
The list of things to do and see in DFW is truly endless. Sixty Vines is definitely top 5 on my list for restaurants. They have a wonderful menu and with over 60 wines on tap you can create a different experience every time. For lunch we would go to The Hive or Prince Lebanese in Arlington. The Hive is a delicious sandwich shop connected to a bakery, Sugar Bee Sweets, that has incredible pastries. Prince Lebanese is my favorite place for Mediterranean food, and it is a family owned restaurant that gives back to their local community. Mexican Sugar in Las Colinas has the best patio in DFW, incredible queso, and an extensive tequila selection. We would go to grab some margaritas and watch the sun set! Another day I would take my friend for a little wine and charcuterie hour at Chill Wine and Coffee Bar in Arlington, and then head to Theatre Arlington to see a play. On a day we were looking for something sweet we would go to Azucar in Bishop Arts for the best ice cream!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I will forever be grateful to all of the incredible teachers I had along the way. From the teacher of the first Spanish language class I took in eighth grade, to the team of teachers that coordinated a trip to Salamanca, Spain when I was in high school, to my study abroad advisor when I was in college. I would have never created my food content accounts had it not been for an assignment from my Mediterranean Cuisine professor when I studied abroad in Mallorca, Spain. In a time where teachers do not get nearly the recognition or support they deserve, I am eternally indebted to the educators that shaped me as a person. I am also so lucky to have incredible parents. They have always supported my dreams, and still come to visit me often even after I moved halfway across the country to pursue my profession after college. I would not be anywhere near where I am today without all of their love and guidance.
