We had the good fortune of connecting with Dancing Iglesias and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Dancing, we’d love to hear about how you approach risk and risk-taking
Risk has been a huge part of our business and life. My husband is incredibly supportive of my desire to take big risks and make big life changes to reach goals. We started 4 years ago while we both had small cars, a new house and a one year old kiddo. Once we decided to dive into this business we went 100%. He quit his job welding and we spent everyday learning. We were very broke for 6 months while we learned to restore furniture, in fact I was even donating blood for income. Then I had another big risk idea. We rented a 20 foot trailer, went to Ohio with every bit of of credit we had and bought all the mid century furniture we could over one weekend and brought it back to Texas! That really started our whole business, it did that well! Another 6 months went by and yet again I pitched a big life change and my husband said yes. We leased a commercial building, bought an RV and renovated it to live in and sold our house! We went from 2800 sq ft to 280! We did that for 2 years and since our business had grown during that timr we had tax returns and were able to purchase the home we have now that sits on 5 acres. It’s been 4 years and lots of huge risks. I have always believed in taking a risk if your willing to do the work. Hourly pay works for a lot of people, it’s safe, it’s stable but it’s very limited. I’ve never been able to live that way. I have a constant desire to test limits and know what is possible if I put the work in. Luckily I married someone that compliments that and doesn’t mind going through valleys to reach bigger places. We recently closed the commercial building we had lease the last 4 years and are building our own warehouse on our property… Which my husband is welding up so that came in handy!

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So the main thing that started our business was to keep our family together and to have “dad” home for our kids. We work hard but our home is our driving force and what determines a lot of our business decisions. My husband was previously military and after he was discharged he did welding. So he was gone alot but after we had our daughter he really wanted to be an active father. The business really started from that seed. Its been our foundation, if the work life starts to take over our home and the time we need to invest in our kids, then we make changes. It has also molded us for our clients. We want their homes to be a sanctuary for their family’s. Every piece we sell is most likely going to a home. So we source with family in mind, quality pieces, functional pieces and unique pieces that are memorable. Vintage is very nostalgic for people and its fun to share those old memories with your children. So all around our business is for family, furniture has just become the glue.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
DFW has so much to offer! We are close to Fort worth so we would have to catch a rodeo of course at the stockyards and have drinks at second rodeo. One night we would do a movie at the coyote drive in theater. For shoping I’d take them the Studio74vintage for outfits! For food I’m kind of a penny pincher so I don’t have great options but in Dallas there is an amazing steak house underground called Dakota’s. They have a dress code, you pull up to a elevator in the middle on town! It is so good!
.
Another incredible place not many people have been to or heard of would be Meowwolf in grapvine! Best place for photo opps. and tons of fun little restaurants there.
.
I do love 2 stepping so Billy bobs is a must!
and dfw has lots of great art sculptures to walk around and see, including JFK memorial spot in Dallas.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
The whole vintage dealing community! I have never been a part of a group that is so eager to help, give advice and knowledge, share buyers, and just love the work they do. It’s like we are all knitted together in the fact that we are finding, restoring and saving all this furniture. Also my momma because she is a super fan and is very supportive in a lot of ways.
