Meet Damondray Christle | Actor & Director

We had the good fortune of connecting with Damondray Christle and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Damondray, why did you pursue a creative career?
So to be honest my family is like the Wayans with all do respect to them and what I mean by that is that we are super talented. My family is goofy,crazy all of that and more. I had no choice but, to fall in the arts because I was surrounded by it. Being the youngest of my siblings, my sister is a Gospel music artist my brother is an actor and so I was always around them often. I also have other family members in the art. So when I chose acting that’s when I felt free I was able to be something else without judgement. I enjoyed that because you know in the real world you mess up you get in trouble right? But, pertaining to acting you get to play a character that might not be anything like you in reality that might be a terrible character but, you wont get in trouble for acting . This is the freedom in my eyes to this particular art and I definitely enjoy it for sure it’s a breath of fresh air because now you’re able to be open and allow the creative juices to flow and it’s all coming from a genuine place.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
So I act as you may know. I definitely enjoy it the thing about it is you must have a passion for it because it comes with long days and sometimes long nights . What sets me apart I feel is that I really want to see people genuinely win as well while I’m over in my own lane but, I’m not to worried about what everybody else is doing because I’m just trying to be better than my yesterday you know what I mean? I’m just super excited about the future because there are alot of great things in store and I look forward to these things which will be. So I try my best to keep a positive mindset and to keep pressing forward. So getting into acting is not a hard process but, it’s not easy neither because you have to build your way up. So to build your way up you definitely must keep putting in work. That means maybe taking classes, practicing, auditioning you know. I continued to keep auditioning what I would do on my spare time was watch a lot of movies. Well I mean I always loved movies but, I learned so much from just watching actors and actresses and I would just act scenes out just because for fun . So even going through the process of going to auditions I learned that every role you audition for might not be the best fit for you but, just because that role might not be don’t mean another one won’t be. You have to enjoy this craft because you going hear some yes and no’s but, if you stick with it eventually you will hear a yes and it will be the yes you desire. So when it comes to me I work I do what I have to you can’t be lazy if this something you want no matter what it is you can’t be lazy you must go get it that’s what I do I don’t wait on it I go get it.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
We’ll see first I love nature so we going on a trail or something we going get some exercise in. Anybody who knows me know I’m trying to be outdoors often. Then we could maybe catch a NBA game and after maybe meet up with some other friends of mine in the city so we can all go out in connect maybe dinner in the heart of downtown with some nice views yeah that sounds like a plan to me maybe go hear a live band because I love music.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I would definitely like to give a Shout-out to my Mother. She definitely have supported me and is one of my biggest cheerleaders. She hopes the best for me and I appreciate that she always have hoped the best for me. So thank you for your support mother even when you were on my case I appreciate you and thank you. I would also like to thank everyone else who supports me while I’m on this journey it doesn’t go unnoticed from every encouraging word that was ever said to me .
