We had the good fortune of connecting with Daizha Petersma and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daizha, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
Freedom! I have always had an entrepreneurial heart and a creative mind so I’m coming up with new business ideas and venture all the time. The hard part is to act on them. It takes courage to go after those ideas and try to make them a reality.
Can you give our readers an introduction to your business? Maybe you can share a bit about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
I’m a boutique social media management studio specializing in helping small and large businesses maximize their content and branding through social media exposure and strategy. I used to be on the other end of the marketing from when I owned a yoga studio, so I know firsthand how hard it is to keep up with it all while you are trying to run your business. We are here to not only help with creating and managing content but also with customer retention and analytic tracking. We offer a wide range of marketing, advertising, and business development services to help grow your business.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
That is a tough question! There are so many around my area and I have told myself I really to get out to explore Fort Worth and Dallas more but I tend to stay in my Keller/Roanoke area and love to have some beer flights and food at Oak street food & brew in downtown Roanoke. They have a great little food hall and Soul Fire brewery. I really like to go to small business restaurants than big chain places.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
I’ve had the support of some amazing people along the way, who’ve given me opportunities to explore my interests and find out what makes me happy—which has led me down this path! One person would be my mother. She just passed away suddenly this past September and sometimes you don’t really know how much someone means to you until they are gone. I definitely got my imagination and magic from her. She always had such creative ideas and dreams, but just not the drive to put them into motion. I can’t even count the number of inventions she had come up with throughout the years. A true visionary. That paired with my dad’s dedication and work ethic is what keeps me going. I’m also excited to bring my sisters into the team to expand my services and capabilities. Another shoutout is to networking. You never know what can come from making a connection with someone and what life-pivoting experiences can come from that connection. I think of all the things that other people have brought into my life that would not have happened without meeting that person. The saying goes… “it’s all about who you know” I fully believe that because knowing people opens doors to new ideas, opportunities, and knowledge. So my advice is to always be open to meeting new people. A great place to start is your local chamber of commerce. Check to see what networking events they have and just go!
