We had the good fortune of connecting with Daisy Pastry Shoppe and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Daisy Pastry, what habits do you feel helped you succeed?
Staying organized is a MUST!! Without it, you will drive yourself crazy. Starting off we were very unorganized, which made us become burned out quickly. We started establishing some organization in our business, and it’s been a huge help.
Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Daisy Pastry Shoppe was founded in October 2022. We are a mother–daughter 60s/70s inspired pop up pastry shop located in North Little Rock. Our first involvement with the baking industry started when we were enrolled in a pastry program at Auguste Escoffier School of Culinary Arts. During our stint in pastry school, we decided to turn our love & passion for baking into a business. We both took huge leaps of faith and left our full time jobs to put our all into this business, but once we did that, Daisy Pastry Shoppe took off. We believed in ourselves and what we could offer to an already overcrowded industry.
When you own a business, there will always be challenges. We are still overcoming them but it’s best to remember why you started and to stay true to your business/brand. Owning a business is not for the weak at heart, it requires hard work, passion, and dedication.
We infuse our shared love for 60s & 70s music into every pastry that we create. When we are in the kitchen baking, we often listen to only 60s & 70s rock music, it helps us to stay on track and get into our creative modes. That’s why we made the decision to name all of our desserts after songs.
The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
We would love to give a HUGE shoutout to the person that made us leave out full-time jobs to commit to Daisy Pastry Shoppe, Valencia Yancy.
Fat Jaws Soul Food & Southern Eats for allowing us to partner with his restaurant, when we were just starting out.
The owners of Box Turtle, they found us at our local farmer’s market and allowed us to have our very first pop-up in their store.
