We had the good fortune of connecting with Da-Toneyia Clewis and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Da-Toneyia, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was very native for me. My family has been throughout the beauty industry even before I was thought about , or extended the family ! I simply took over the passion and elevated it. Within it all , I became my own person and made it my own.

Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
There’s absolutely nothing like being a braider to me , working with beauty as a whole ! The enhancement made is what makes the process trustworthy.
What sets me apart from others is the intent put into servicing my clients and making them feel good ! I often like to try to switch roles mentally and do as I want done with me just as others. Not only am I styling your hair but I’m caring for the well being of it just as your overall mental space and well being.
It has indeed taken some time to get fully in the position I am in and day after day is still elevation for me and new heights of growth.
Keeping faith and again trusting the process , it’s okay to be your own critic but not your worst ! I had to allow my self space to breath and understand that I can only go at the pace of my own ! Everything will fall into place as needed. No matter what nothing is greater than what the divine has set for you !
What I have learned along this journey is that I can not compare the masses, even story is didn’t you just move to the beat of your own drum.
I want the world to know that I will continue to move mountains and work my way up in this hair game and beauty industry! Please don’t count me out.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I’m very big on nature , the Prairie Creek Park would definitely be number one on the list. The scenery is everything and who doesn’t love a food waterfall. Just a peaceful setting ! Oak lawn is the district for free spirits ! If you want to vibe and truly meet new people with your peers , that is the area to go to ! So many bars to choose from , food restaurants ( little Italia ) being my favorite! They have the best pizza has down. The people in the area within themselves are just jolly and joyful people. Of course I’d top it off with a visit to the Dallas museum of arts or travel to bishop arts to visit my favorite metaphysical store which is Soultopia !

First and foremost, I’d like to thank the most high for the divine gift I have been blessed with ! My close friends, my peers , and clients for the continuous support and love !
I give all gratitude to my parents for everything. I would be who I am today without any of you!
