We had the good fortune of connecting with Corey Bester and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Corey, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
It was simple honestly. My dad was a gym rat so I’ve been around it all my life. He had me working out as a kid as far as push ups, squats, lunges, etc so it really grew on me. The second thing was I started losing a lot of my family members due to health issues and it took a toll on me as a kid! That made me want to change lives by starting with my family, so that’s how I came into wanting my own business. Plus I’ve never done good with work rules. I had my son and having him is what really made me fall through with everything! I owe everything to my family!
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
Mind Over Matter Fitness! It’s a lifestyle for me. Reason being is I’ve always had to overcome numerous of obstacles all my life! What sets me apart i just want my clients to win! I make sure all my single mother’s children are take well care of if they can’t find a babysitter. I make sure they grow Mentally, physically, and emotionally! I treat my clients like family. I’m proud of myself because I’ve gone all year training full time! I’m excited for what’s to come, my business to keep growing, and my clients to keep having results. Ive always trained part time. Covid hit and my job shutdown, got fired from another job due to covid, so that made me want to just go full time with it. No it wasn’t easy at all. I had to overcome losing my job, truck being stolen the same day with all of my workout equipment, and losing clients. I overcame all my challenges by simply just taking it one day at a time, staying positive, staying focused, and being fully committed to my craft. I’ve learned to never give up, hard work does pay off, everyday is a day for me to grow, keeping faith and being positive takes you a long way. I want the world to know that Mind Over Matter Fitness is the way of life! Everything we do is 90% mental 10% physical. So if you’re strong mentally then physically you could overcome anything!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
