We had the good fortune of connecting with Cordell and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Cordell, what led you to pursuing a creative path professionally?
I feel like God gives you the passion and it becomes your responsibility to figure out how to use that passion . So I don’t think I pursued it as much as I just felt compelled to .
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I think what separates me as a writer and an artist is attention to detail and relatability. There’s not enough of either of them in Hip-Hop. I’m most proud of my consistency over the past few years. I’m getting ready to drop my 10th project in the past 3 years. For someone like myself, who doesn’t see any real immediate return on the investment, I think that says a lot. And that’s the hardest part, trying to maintain that consistency while still trying to maintain everything else. As a father, as someone with a regular job. It’s hard
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m from the Harrisburg area in Central PA. People who are from here always complain there’s nothing to do but I always disagree. You have to go to Jackson House for lunch. OD’s Fish House for dinner, and Masa Tacos. Those are my favorite spots to eat around here. Hershey Park is always fun, City Island in the summer, a lot of good hiking trails around. I like getting outside when the weather is nice. A nice outside bar for drinks & cigars.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
Without thinking too hard about it I would say my family & my friends. Especially my Mom & Dad, they always encouraged me with the music, during a time where it may not have been popular to do so.
