We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Sprowl and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christy, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have always wanted to own my own company since I was in high school. I never knew exactly what kind of business it was going to be. I was letting life take me as I was living it. Fast forward to me being 23 and bartending at a place I knew I didn’t want to be forever, I have an itch to bartend weddings and other special events. Friday nights we had a DJ come in to do karaoke, and I knew he Dj’d weddings a lot. So, I asked him how I could get into doing them myself. He gave me a little run down. After I closed the bar that night I went home and did some research and come to find out I could just start with just working off of my TABC certificate. That night I decided to order business cards. They only said “Professional Bartender”. I didn’t even have a name yet. A week later I ordered bar supplies and even a little portable bar to start with. I got everything in, and I started posting all over social media. I had a couple reach out to me, because one of their friends had shared my post! They wanted ME to bartend their wedding day. I was super excited. November 4, 2017 was my very first wedding event. Months later I finally got a name for my business, Prestige Bartending Service. I always worked another bartending job while working my business. Now, 5 years later I have grown this company so much. I got a business partner and we totally re-branded the company to now, Prestige Event Service LLC. We not only offer bartending, but serving/staffing as well. I am excited to see where we will go 5 more years, and beyond. I am now working my business full-time, and have been for a year now.
So my thought process you ask? To be a successful entrepreneur and continue to expand the company to all levels.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
We are a mobile bartending company that offers all inclusive packages, but we do not include the actual alcohol. We take care of everything else. The shopping, the prepping, the loading and unloading. One thing that sets us apart from other bartending companies is that we design and decorate our bars to match colors and themes of the event. This is something I truly love to do for every one of my clients. We bring that special touch and a unique experience. We also handcraft all of our mixers, syrups and purees. Want a margarita for a signature drink? We handcraft that margarita mix to perfection. Leaving a fresh taste on your pallet. I got to where I am today through persistence and consistency. Not giving up even though I went month without getting a booking. So, no, nothing about getting to this point has been easy. Investing in this company out of my own pocket was a challenge, especially being a single mom. I believed in myself and knew that everything I am putting into it was going to pay off. I started attending more networking events. Getting my name and face out there is a big thing in this industry. People are not going to know who you are through social media, you have to go out and meet people.
My lessons I’ve learned is, you can literally do anything. You CAN create your own reality. Being patient is the key to running a business. You can’t expect to start a business like mine and get booked out the whole year. It doesn’t happen, but staying persistent and getting your name out there another lesson I learned.
What do I want the world to know about my brand and story?
I want people to know that we are real and genuine people that truly care about their special event. We are more than just bartenders. We are mixologists with a passion for the event industry.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
So first I would take them to brunch at Ida Claire in Addison. That place is amazing! After we get all nice and full, let’s take a drive around down town. Go bar hopping in Deep Vellum (yes, day drinking at its finest) The Dallas Arboretum & Botanical Gardens is on the itinerary!
Water park anyone? We’re going to Epic Waters! If its hot, Hurricane Harbor and Six Flags!
Uptown is the next stop, stopping in at all the retail and fine dining spots.
Heading up north to Legacy West in Plano for more shopping and dining.
Top golf, bowling, or throwing axes Is on the to do list!

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would definitely have to shoutout my mother. She has been with me every step of the way. My daughter was 2 when I started this company. So my mom had to watch my daughter every time I had work and work events. She has always stood by my side. There are not enough words to even describe how thankful I am of my family to be here and fully support me. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it wasn’t for her.
