We had the good fortune of connecting with Christy Scarpelli and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christy, what do you attribute your success to?
I think the most important factor behind my success and brand is the fact that I truly love what I do. I genuinely enjoy enhancing my clients beauty and making them feel extra confident when they sit in/leave my chair. In this business it’s easy to feel you need to compare yourself to other stylists, or even your own clients…like “I want to have more clients than her…or a bigger Instagram following than him…or as pretty as them”…but I feel the real successful comes when you like what you do, are confident in your own work and yourself, and you wish the best for everyone.
Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
One thing my clients learn quickly about me is I have moved around A LOT. I feel that has helped my creativity immensely because I can pull inspo from so many areas of the world. I’ve lived everywhere from Alaska to Los Angeles to Nashville to a beach town in Florida to the U.K. And I’ve traveled many other places. You might think that makes it hard because each time I’ve moved I had to start over but I actually think having that sort of background has made it easier to build a clientele and given me knowledge that classes can’t buy.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
I’m a live music fanatic so if I had a friend visiting from out of town we would definitely be going to somewhere like Doublewide when they have live music or Lower Greenville to bar hop. Maybe some frozen Moscow Mules on HG Supply Co’s rooftop and then truck yard to hear some tunes. But if I could get them here during The Texas State Fair that would be my first choice because that thing is just mind blowing haha.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I definitely think stylists on Instagram in general have taught me so much. Instagram has become such an amazing platform for learning and growing. Besides that I have learned so much from the Goldwell Academy in NYC where I become a master colorist and from Habit Salon who I’ve taken online classes with. Not to mention I also work amongst who I believe to be the most talented group of stylists in the DFW area at Muse The Salon. Everyone there is so kind and knowledgeable and I learn something new from them every single day.
