We had the good fortune of connecting with Christie Parks and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Christie, can you walk us through the thought-process of starting your business?
I have been on a mission to reach and inspire adults since my own transformation journey began just over 3 years ago. After two difficult pregnancies, each with multiple hospital admissions, bedrest, and many postpartum complications, I found myself severely depressed, overweight, and feeling lost. As a lifetime athlete, not being in my usual fitness routine and being physically incapacitated affected me deeply. In addition to being physically limited, I had been pouring into my family for so long, I had lost who I was and had quit intentionally caring for myself. I was pouring from an empty cup, and that is not the mother I want to be. My children are my whole world, they deserve better. I began my own transformation journey in 2019, and found that choosing nourishing food selections assisted me in healing my body from the inside out. This, in addition to slowly finding my way back into physical fitness and finding my stride once more, helped me to uncover a new me – a better me, so I could best fulfill myself, and in turn, give my children, career, and relationships my very best. I found nutrition and fitness to be such healing lifestyle habits, I began to desire to help inspire others to embark on a journey within themselves. In 2022, CP Lifestyle Coaching was born, and I have been beyond blessed to help my clients as they find their best selves through healing nutrition, fitness, and lifestyle changes that are meant to last! With CP Lifestyle Coaching, I am helping others to create healthy habits for life.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthesiologist (CRNA), and love what I do for my community. I enjoy helping my patients during some of the most vulnerable moments in their lives, and being able to provide comfort to them and their family members during times of need. I take so much pride in my work, and truly love being able to keep my patients safe, comfortable, and watch over them during their surgical procedures. I am always by their side, creating the best anesthetic tailored to the patients’ specific needs and situation, as though they are my unique family member. Becoming a CRNA was quite the challenge, as it does require many years working in bedside nursing in the intensive care unit, in addition to a Bachelor Degree of Science in Nursing, as well as other prerequisites prior to acceptance into a nurse anesthesiology program. The programs themselves are very intensive, with both didactic and clinical learning taking place simultaneously for a fully immersive and rigorous experience throughout training. I graduated from the Middle Tennessee School of Anesthesia in my hometown of Nashville, TN, in 2013, and have been practicing anesthesiology with pride ever since. My favorite specialities in anesthesiology are obstetrics and pediatrics, the latter of which I was specialized at the prestigious Johns Hopkins Hospital during my career.
My background in nursing and anesthesiology, in addition to my athletic background, have led me to starting my online coaching business, which is a new avenue I can utilize to help people become their best selves. My knowledge of the body and its systems, in addition to my deep passion for helping others, has allowed me to grow quickly as a coach, helping people who have lost their way or have lost healthy habits. It’s no question that the pandemic has wreaked havoc on a lot of individuals’ fitness and health routines, and has hindered many people’s physical goals. I want to assist others in finding their way again, giving them the tools to sustain healthy habits, so that they can feel their best for LIFE.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
If my best friend were to come visit me, I would have to show them some of my favorite restaurants around the city, as well as visit my favorite gyms in the area. I would take them to Destination Gym in Dallas, which is one of my favorite gyms to visit in the Allen area of Texas. I would also take my friend to my regular gym here in Keller, TX, which is LA Fitness. The support and camaraderie I have experienced during some of my bodybuilding competition seasons within those two gyms are unlike any other.
My favorite restaurants to frequent that I would have to bring a visiting friend to are Del Frisco’s Grille in Southlake, TX, as well at RA Sushi in Southlake, TX. My favorite breakfast spot in the area in Seven Mile Cafe in Keller.
Some of my favorite things to do for fun are enjoy a movie at Moviehouse Eatery, and take a walk along the pond at City Hall in Keller. When concerts come to town, you can find me enjoying these at the American Airlines Center in Dallas. Carrie Underwood was one of the BEST shows I’ve seen there! I also got to enjoy my favorite duo, JOHNNYSWIM, at the South Side Ballroom in Dallas, and that was the most amazing concert I’ve seen those two put on. I try to see them every time they come to town – they are an incredibly captivating duo.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I want to thank my children, Charlotte & Nathan, for helping inspire me to become the very best version of myself – for you. I want you to be proud of me, and to know that I work my hardest and chase my dreams, so that you can have the best mom, but also so you can learn that the sky is the limit to your dreams and aspirations. You can become anyone or anything you want to be. A very special thank you is also owed to my coach and mentor, Jami DeBernard, who has inspired me to be the best athlete and coach I can be, as you have been the best coach and role model I could’ve ever asked for.
