We had the good fortune of connecting with Christen Westcott and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Christen, what makes you happy? Why?
Helping to bring peace-of-mind, joy and balance to other people’s lives makes me truly happy. I became a wedding and event planner because it brings me so much happiness to shield clients from distractions so that they can focus on what is really important – celebrating with the people they love.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I am a big believer in the art of creating an incredible event experience.

For me, that means from the onset of planning all the way through the special day, I place a lot of value on the importance of creating a joyful atmosphere for my clients, their guests, and the vendor team.

I think you can have the most perfect venue, decorations, food, etc. but if the energy is frenetic and decisions are left until the last minute, everyone feels it, including the client. I am a big advocate for ensuring that every event has a proper team behind it, because one of the biggest driving forces to creating a special and enjoyable day is having the right people in place. I learned early on that it takes the effort of a team to ultimately make things look and feel totally effortless!

When you work with Look West Events, our top priority is to make you and the special people in your life feel well-cared for from beginning to end.

Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
I would start with a happy hour and charcuterie at home! I really enjoy having my friends over to our house and making sure that I have their favorite beverage on hand. I’d then take them to Los Molcajetes in Roanoke, one of my favorite local restaurants, followed by a stop at Andy’s Frozen Custard and maybe wrap up with some board games or a movie at home. My friends and I definitely like to shop, so a visit to Southlake Town Square is a must. If my friend isn’t in the mood to sight-see, we’ll just do some quality time activities like a walking trail or a pool day!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
My husband and family are my biggest cheerleaders. Their belief in me and my business really keeps me going.
