We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Brown and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
I had spent a total of 14yrs working for someone else. Working a traditional 9 to 5, while there’s nothing wrong with that, just wasn’t what I wanted anymore. I wanted the freedom of controlling my own schedule and freeing up time. I have two kids and I love being able to pick my daughter from school or being able to go to my son’s practices and games without having to worry about asking for time off.

What should our readers know about your business?
My business is Arlington Elite Training. I’m a Fitness Trainer/Coach. I got my start working at 24hr fitness in Arlington Texas around 2008 as a membership counselor but shifted over to training shortly after. After about 6yrs i decided itcwas time to step out on my own as a independent trainer thats when Arlington Elite Training was born! I work with youth and adults of all ages. I specialize in Strength and Conditioning as well as S.A.Q. (Speed Agility and Quickness). While i enjoy working with all my clients, I’m most proud of the work I get to do with my youth athletes. Being able to help teach and guide them through fitness and health makes me happy.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
There’s a nice spot near by in Grand Prairie, Chicken and Pickle! Very nice atmosphere and fun for the kids. And of course we would definitely have to head over to Mansfield and stop by my Gym!

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
Absolutely! Of course my wife and kids are # 1 for sure! They’re my why. They’re who I do this for. I also have a couple of people who were instrumental and deserve a shout out for helping me along the way. Korley Ward ( Camp Gladiator) was very encouraging to me before i even became a trainer. I told him that “im thinking of becoming a trainer but I’ll wait.. i dont think im ready” he said why wait? Do it now!” Then there’s a guy by the name of Thomas Yelloweyes ( who’s also a trainer) he may not even remember this but helped me tremendously early on in my career when I had the opportunity to train a pro athlete but some other guys didn’t think I was qualified enough. He gave me some encouraging words and advice that i still use to this day.
