Meet Chris Bell | Vocalist/Drummer for the band Perceived

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chris Bell from the band Perceived and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chris, why did you pursue a creative career?
Music has always been a part of my life. For as long as I can remember, music has always been there, through the good and bad times. I’ve been writing my own music since I was like 5 years old so it was only natural to want to pursue that path.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
I think what sets our band apart from most is the fact that we have a singing drummer. That’s kind of rare thing. Throughout time, there’s only been a handful of drummers that sing, and I honestly feel there should be more. It has definitely been challenging, no doubt about that. It’s always a different experience when the vocalist isn’t up front and in your face acting crazy or trying to get the crowd riled up. So we rely heavily on the music to be captivating and move people since we do lack your typical front man situation. I have learned through all of this that it ultimately doesn’t matter what other people think, just be you. We hope that people can get something positive out of our music that we’re creating in Perceived. We just want people to know that they are not in this alone. Our next show will be Friday July 22nd at O’Riley’s in Dallas, TX with our good friends The Roommates, Righteous Kill, and The 5th Sun. $10 Cover, all ages with an adult and free parking. If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I absolutely love live music so you can guarantee we’ll be going to a few concerts. O’Riley’s in Dallas and Six Springs Tavern in Richardson are two of my favorite places to see original local bands. Great atmosphere, cheap drinks, good food, and live music, you can’t go wrong at either venue.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
We would personally like to thank O’Riley’s in Dallas and Six Springs Tavern in Richardson for their continued support of original up and coming local bands.
