Meet Chase Record | Owner & Operator

We had the good fortune of connecting with Chase Record and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chase, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My wife, Justina, and I have over fifteen years of combined experience in the specialty coffee industry. When we set out to start Record Coffee Supply we knew we needed to do something that was quintessentially us. We wanted to share our passion for coffee and hospitality with our friends, our neighbors, and strangers alike. Our intent was to essentially expand our living room into the real world and invite folks in. We had no money to give to it and truthfully had no plan, but we came out swinging. Our goal since its inception has always been quality, hospitality, and community. I jokingly tell people our business plan was be nice to people, make good coffee, and don’t spend too much money. So far, it has worked wonders. We began with the bare essentials and have added to our operation as we have grown, which has made us better in a consistent and continual way. Our hope is to branch out and begin producing our own food items with the goal of staffing the kitchen and bar with local high school culinary students as a work study alongside our team. It’s just another way we hope to engage and encourage the next set of creative humans in our society and to provide them with the knowledge and tools to be successful. Overall, the support we have received has been so overwhelmingly great and to repay our customers gratitude we will continue to extend kindness, enact true hospitality, maintain a genuine excitement to see people, and commit to do simple insanely well. All in all, we’re just pumped to be here.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
Experience in our craft is one thing, but we often have folks tell us that they come to see us and visit with us more than anything else. We just happen to make a good cup of coffee. Coffee has become the conduit to the sharing of our passion for coffee and hospitality, passing along our excitement for the craft, and enacting our heart to serve others. We are proud of what we do each and every day. We put our best in to every cup we make and highly encourage our guests, in a kind way, to always let us know if we missed the mark. We strive to be as close to perfect as we can, knowing we will never achieve perfection. We’re grateful for the shortfall because let’s be real, being perfect is a big responsibility. We’ve made a lot of progress and even more mistakes along the way, but we have the luxury to learn from those mistakes. Our hope is that the main takeaway from Record Coffee Supply is that normal people can do cool things and share it with others. Community, quality, and hospitality is our focus, like, seriously. Just come by and see for yourself.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
A perfect denton week would consist of breakfast tacos at Casa Galaviz, a goat cheese pesto croissant from Ravelin Bakery, dinner from any of the following: El Taco H, Thai Square, and Sushi Motto, sunset on the bench on the hill in South East Denton as the train rolls by, Beth Marie’s ice cream is a classic, hitting the mini mall to see what poor purchasing decisions can be made, everyone says you have to go to recycled so that’s a non-negotiable local expectation, the cookie butter cronut from Donutly on Sunset, Tuesday night bike rides are always a hit, and obviously coffee at Record Coffee Supply just because. The list could go on so you’ll just have to come find out for yourself.

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
First of all, shout out to our moms for giving birth to us. That was dope. And ultimately, to all of our parents/siblings for supporting us and believing in us, even when it seems like a leap. Shout out to the rest of our family, too. They’ve told everyone about what we’re doing and we couldn’t be more grateful. The Erwin family have played a huge role in getting our name out there on social media platforms and the google with their amazing work/ideas. And to our lovely Denton community and all of our friends and loved ones that exist in this big, little town. We are truly blessed to be in such a loving and supportive place. And to our current and future customers, thanks to all of you for visiting our space and allowing us to serve you an experience each time you come in!
