We had the good fortune of connecting with Charrisse Darbouze and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charrisse, can you share the most important lesson you’ve learned over the course of your career?
The most important lesson I learned in my business has been to never internalize failure or setbacks. I learned that not getting the results I expected was simply great feedback. I should have used that information to evaluate, what went well, areas of improvement, and pivoted the business. In the past, I did not always do that. I took the failure personally and thought I was not good enough or no one wanted what I had to offer. But… now I know what “failure” means its feedback and that I needed to pivot the business.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
My name is Charrisse and I am a Brand & Business Strategist. I am the founder of Purpose & Profits. This platform teaches women entrepreneurs how to create a purposeful lifestyle that helps them discover what they are meant to do, so they can start and launch their own business. Purpose and Profits was birthed through my own entrepreneurial journey. My journey started six years ago. I started a subscription box service for women of color. This was a very exciting (and nerve wrecking) time in my life. I began to grow and sell my products very quickly. I learned everything from negotiating prices with vendors, marketing & promotion, and managing finances. But within a year, I was forced to close it down. I was devastated. Part of the devastation was not fulfilling this image in my head of being “successful” before starting a family. It took me some time to bounce back from that moment. However, after months of reflection and time to myself, I realized how much invaluable experience I received. This new found confidence had motivated me to tap into other passions… this led me to starting a consulting business to business owners with their marketing to leading an empowerment women community.  I know first-hand the frustrations and challenges that come with finding fulfillment in your work and juggling family life. As modern day women we live very busy lives whether you are a wife… mom…working in corporate america….or as an entrepreneur.  Life can cause us to be overworked, overwhelmed, and stressed out. And if we don’t have systems and structures in place to help us juggle our daily life, we can end up burnt out.   That’s why Purpose & Profits was created. I want to help busy women like you eliminate the overwhelm and stress of daily life… and provide you with a blueprint on how to create a purposeful lifestyle that will give you clarity into what you are meant to do and impact others through business.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
-I am a Tex mex girl so we would have to stop at one of my favorite spots which is Taco Diner. -Drinks- Taco Diner’s Mamba Taxis. -Dessert- I would have to stop at the best place that makes pies Emporium Pies in Oak Cliff. -Cane Rossa in Deep Ellum. -In my opinion, you can spend a whole week in Deep Ellum for food, drinks, and entertainment. -If you’re a sports fan, tour the Cowboys stadium in Arlington. -If you’re looking for shopping, I would recommend Northpark Mall and Galleria Mall. -Dallas Aquarium -Frisco Star for family fun activities and dining. – Legoland for family fun activities – Take a drive around Highland park to view some of the biggest homes in Dallas – For a farm to table experience, Whiskey Cake in Plano – Legacy West for fine dining and shopping – Dallas Mavericks game – Hard Eights BBQ – Pecan Lodge BBQ – Velvet Taco

The Shoutout series is all about recognizing that our success and where we are in life is at least somewhat thanks to the efforts, support, mentorship, love and encouragement of others. So is there someone that you want to dedicate your shoutout to?
I would like to shoutout my husband Ron. He has been with me since the beginning… when the business was just a topic of conversation over dinner. When I wanted to leave my full-time job to start my own business, he was very loving and rearranged our lifestyle for me to do so. He has been there during the times when I doubted myself and wanted to give up. He is my mentor, accountability partner, and support system. If it were not for his consistency and pushing me to achieve my dreams, I would not be where I am today with the business. Huge shoutout to him!
