We had the good fortune of connecting with Charles Hamm and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Charles, is your business focused on helping the community? If so, how?
I retired at age 74, after a lifetime as an entrepreneur, At the age of 76 I published my first book, “Ponder on It, Pilgrims.’ It has become a 3x #1 International Bestseller that has now sold in 16 different countries.

The success of the book has opened up a whole new career for me, In addition to being a writer, now working on my second book, I have a TV show, a radio spot on KSEV Radio, in Houston, called “Texas Grit,, and am in growing demand as a public speaker. I also have over 24,000 followers on LinkedIn.

It is my passion to revive the concept of wisdom into our culture. A Texas Grit saying of mine is, “Wisdom will always be the first casualty of unrestrained behavior. We never hear anyone referred to as “wise’ anymore, and seem to have lost it’s concept. I’m out to change that, and change the way folks think.

Can you open up a bit about your work and career? We’re big fans and we’d love for our community to learn more about your work.
My latest venture, started at age 76, I have become an author, have a TV show, am on the radio, and have become a public speaker

All of this grew out of real life experience, I served in the Marine Corps from 1965 to 1969. I am a Vietnam veteran, and was honorably discharged with the rank of E-5 sergeant.

I went to college on the GI Bill, and graduated with a BA degree in classical Greek and Hebrew.

I started four successful businesses over the next 50 years before I retired, only to start a new career as a public figure.

I found the key to success is to surround yourself with folks that are smarter than you are, and who know things you don’t know. This is my formula for building a successful team. It has never been more true than in my latest venture.

Along the way I learned the value of making wise decisions, and taking full responsibility for my them.

Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
Space Needle Restaurant in Reunion Tower. Fort Worth Stockyards,
Dealey Plaza
Lots of great places to see and eat. We would plan each day together.

Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
My daddy, my mentor, and the best friend I ever had. I’d also like to mention all my great followers of LinkedIn who have encouraged me.
