We had the good fortune of connecting with Chantelle Wilson and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chantelle, as a parent, what have you done for you children that you feel has had the most significant impact?
As a parent of two teenager daughters it is very important for me to give them the tools I lacked as a young adult on my own and one of the important subjects was financial literacy. Lack of proper financial literacy can and will affect most areas of your life. I am grateful to be in the position to teach them how to handle credit cards, how to build credit, how to save and how to leverage other people’s money properly for Their own gain. At the age of 12 they were giving credit cards with their own names on it as authorized users. They were giving a smaill limit to spend and out of that small card limit, they could only spend a max of 30% in a billing cycle and understand the importants of not spending more than 30%. It was hard a first to get them to understannd the concept of having money available and not being able to spend it but they are getting the hang of it now. They know when to pay the balance off and that is not the due date, we use the statement date. This is just a drop of what I have shared with them but the most important factor to me is that when they leave my home, they will have excellent credit, financial literacy and know how to maintain it.

Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
The company that I am a with have been in business since 2004. What sets us apart is that we give back to the community. We help adults get back on track with their financial literacy journey because we know life happens and sometimes we just don’t know what we need to know. Our company teaches kids financial literacy. We go into the elementary schools and have a small financial curriculum set a side for them to complete and once they complete it, the class is giving money and pizza party on us. We have also been able to give Scholarships away to high school seniors and College freshmen. Last year we gave over $600.oo0 dollars in scholarships. I don’t know any other financial literacy company that is not only giving back to children financially but also teaching at the magnitude that we are. We really have a heart to help people. The hard truth about this business and what I have learned is not everyone will see the value in what you have to offer and how this information can change their lives but I really focused on the lives I have helped changed. Two agents on my team have had bankruptcy removed from their credit file. That is huge. I too have had negative items such as a repo and late payments removed from my credit file. Once my credit was improved, I was able to refinance my vehicle from 17 % to 3.25%. that is a game changer her. I have been able to obtain high limit credit cards and lines of credit just on the strength of my name. That is a world of difference from where I was many years ago. I looking forward to helping many more family gain their financial power back.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Since the pandemic, I have honestly have not been out to enjoy much of what the city has to offer. However I would love to go is worship in person at the Potter’s House. Walking around the Botanical Gardens of Fort Worth is really nice, that place is beautiful.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
There is an organization I would love to shout out as they have been a pivotal point in my financial literacy journey that has not only helped me and my family but thousands of other families as well. They are changing the trajectory of countless lives daily. Financial literacy is way deeper than money its self, its the protection of your assets, Peace of mind of having a Will and trust in place and having all of your affairs in order in case something happens to you. Many people in my community are not prepared and sometimes our wishes are not fulfilled because we didn’t write them down. I also want to point out with any change, it first have to start with you. You having to make a decision for yourself. You can be giving the best tools in the world and not value it.
