We had the good fortune of connecting with Chanel Ebanks-Texada and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Chanel, what is the most important factor behind your success?
The most important factor behind my success is simply not giving up. Even when things are slow or if I become very occupied with my full time position, I always stay connected to what I love to do. I have never in the past 7 years dropped doing makeup completely. I pray to continue to grow and grow as the years continue to go by.
Let’s talk shop? Tell us more about your career, what can you share with our community?
I am a Makeup Artist in the DFW area. I am located in Beauty Bar Mesquite Salon. I believe what sets me a part is I give my clients a stunning look without taking them too far from what they are used too. I like to call it “enhancing your beauty”. It’s all there, I’m just helping to bring it out. I am most excited about my new location in Beauty Bar Mesquite. For years I have been mobile but now I have my own studio space which has been super helpful. I still am however offering mobile services. It took a lot of years of trial and error to get to where I’m at. Lot’s of practice and of course money invested which has all been my own. It has not been easy but defiantly worth it. What I have learned is to believe in yourself and stay consistent as possible. I would want the world to know that I am passionate about what I do and makeup is what I want to pursue full time. With the support of everyone booking appointments and sharing my content I am confident that is a future possibility for me. I also have some new things in store for the brand. I am in the works of creating a lash line.
If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
Deep Ellum is a must. The bars are fun and there is so many great food places. You can’t go wrong there. I enjoy Stirr and Harlowe for brunch. Bitter End is a great Sunday fun day spot. You can catch live performances throughout the week normally. There is so much talent within the area it is amazing. Blends is another favorite of mine. It’s my favorite daiquiri shop in DFW. I also love Mardi Gras Daiquiri in Mesquite.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to thank the salon owners Tony and Kenshell at Beauty Bar Mesquite for giving me an awesome opportunity to set up shop in the Salon and be my mentors. I feel this is a real big step for my business and growing my clientele in the area. I also would like to thank Emeka Anyanwu owner of Ameke LLC for giving me a shot to collaborate with her brand and create content. I’d like to thank Jessica Washington from Dallas Weekly as well. I also appreciate the support of my family, friends, and followers. Every like, share, and appointment booked helps me tremendously and it all wouldn’t be possible with every single person that believes in me.
