We had the good fortune of connecting with Chalae Lindsey Perry and we’ve shared our conversation below.

Hi Chalae, what are you inspired by?
I am inspired by a lot of retro and edgy things when it comes to fashion and jewelry. I love bright colors and cool shapes/patterns. I really love 80s, 90s and 00s retro to be exact. That whole aesthetic is just a vibe that I love so much! I also love the color black with pops of color which give things a retro vibe with an edge to merge the two.

Alright, so let’s move onto what keeps you busy professionally?
I feel like what sets me apart from everyone else is I have multiple businesses that correspond with one another. Not only do I have code edge which is my retro/edgy jewelry brand but I also do body paint and special fx under the name edgyfx and I am a dancer and choreographer under the name the edgychick. So everything is EDGY! I got to where I am today by just creating. I’ve always been a creative person so creating really helped me see that wow my stuff really is dope and I can really get somewhere with my work. I overcame challenges by never giving up creating things I feel are a part of me so giving up was never an option even if I failed. What I learned along the way is your never really failing at anything it’s just a lessen you can learn from to get better on your next endeavor. What I want people to know about my brand over all is always be true to yourself, where what you want to wear do what you want to do but wear and do it with confidence. Everyone is unique in there own way.

If you had a friend visiting you, what are some of the local spots you’d want to take them around to?
I would take them literally anywhere that has great chicken wings and fruity drinks! You can never go wrong with that also every girl loves shopping so we would definitely hit up the malls.

Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would love to dedicate my shout out to my husband Stephaun Perry. He invested in my many businesses many of times and pushes me to be creative and the best I can be. He makes me believe I can do anything I set my mind to.
