We had the good fortune of connecting with Catrina Crutcher and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Catrina, we’d love to hear more about how you thought about starting your own business?
The initial thought behind my business was to gain a bigger voice to help others in a way to showcase motivation, encouragement, but to also display other attributes that can allow you to grow into the best version of yourself is through faith, confidence, support system, and a strong foundation. Fitness became a passion of mine within my sophomore year in high school. The assistant football coach (who was injured from his football career and lost his ability to walk) showed me how to embrace taking care of myself and I have always wanted to ensure I do the same for others, as he changed my life so much with showing me the importance of health/fitness.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
Fit Figure, LLC was created after I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2013 from Alabama. Within establishing my business, I am most proud of the overall relationships, friendships, and family that I have gained while being an entrepreneur. This has been a journey where I have looked to give up but just when I attempted to – god placed someone in my life that pushed me to keep going and making a difference. My journey to get to where I am has had some waves, as all endeavors do. When Fit Figure was established, I had a lot of negativity thrown my way. Some friends and family thought I didn’t know what I was talking about or said nobody wants to look like the opposite gender. When fitness isn’t even about growing intense muscles, it’s about a healthy lifestyle to be free and loves yourself. The conversations that came my way had me discouraged, and I stopped helping people for about three months in 2015, but one day my friend called and said, “why haven’t you been to the gym,” we miss you and that cheerleader smile. I did not believe her, but she said one thing that made me become a fighter again for myself: Catrina, your a rare space of sunshine on my cloudy day and I appreciate you and the beautiful person you are – I see how much you love helping others, so now you need the help and I am here for you. Keep in mind, I had only known my friend for less than a year, but she pushed me to keep moving and see the difference I was making even if the roads looked dark with negativity. From that day, I didn’t care what people thought about me and my passion. I was living my truth/passion to help others and show that we can be fighters daily through any part of life. I want others to know, Fit Figure’s platform in fitness is to show others how to channel their inner fighter through their life. Fitness is not all about body image, it’s a healthy lifestyle to make yourself stronger no matter what life sends your way. I want to continue to be a voice to share this message, you matter, our health/wellness matter, your image and love for yourself matters.
Any places to eat or things to do that you can share with our readers? If they have a friend visiting town, what are some spots they could take them to?
If my best friend was in town, we would have so much fun. First, starting out with enjoying our favorite food today “sushi”. We would have a dinner at Edoko Sushi & Robata, Frisco. They’re menu holds the best sushi, fried rice, and bacon wrapped asparagus. We would also have a few shopping days at NorthPark, Legacy West. We would have some additional girl time on a hike within some hiking trails in Frisco & Little Elm, then venture off to brunch at Common Table, Frisco or downtown Yardbird, Dallas. I would also try to attempt to take her to AT&T Stadium, but she is not a Cowboys/football fan like me, so she would probably not be happy, but then she may do it anyway because we are best friends.
Who else deserves some credit and recognition?
If I could dedicate my success to any would be god, foundation of family/friends, and all mentors within my life. The foundation of my business and who I am as an entrepreneur wouldn’t be as strong without those in my life. I am so blessed to have all of them to keep me encourage as I encourage others.
