We had the good fortune of connecting with Casaudra Martin and we’ve shared our conversation below.
Hi Casaudra, what was your thought process behind starting your own business?
My thought process behind starting my own business, came from me working in corporate America. I’ve never been afraid of hard work and I make myself quickly known in any environment I work in as the go to person. I learn quickly, give 200% and show leadership skills amongst many other talents. But, very often, I saw myself getting looked over for promotions. I realized quickly that I could determine my own success by starting my own business.
Alright, so for those in our community who might not be familiar with your business, can you tell us more?
C & M Tax Service is a tax preparation and consulting business. My goal is to make the tax experience seamless. We don’t want to be the stereotypical tax service. I want people to experience a calm environment and make sure they thoroughly understand their taxes. Many people just sign the paperwork and don’t understand how taxes work. Our goal is to make sure you understand so we can develop a plan to maximize your tax refund.
Let’s say your best friend was visiting the area and you wanted to show them the best time ever. Where would you take them? Give us a little itinerary – say it was a week long trip, where would you eat, drink, visit, hang out, etc.
There are so many great things to do. I would definitely do tours of the Arts Districts in Dallas and Fort Worth. We would do tours of the Fort wWorth Stock Yards as well. Fort Worth also has some awesome Bourbon and Whiskey distilleries. But I love the mid cities, you’re basically in the middle of everything in the metroplex. One of my favorite places to visit is SiNaCa Studios in Fort Worth. It’s a glass blowing studio that sells glass art but also you can create your own items in their workshops. Also, I absolutely love going to Endorphin Factory: Axe Throwing, Demolition Rooms and Archery in Grand Prairie. Axe throwing and archery are fun family activities but if you want to get a little aggression out, try the Demolition Room.
Shoutout is all about shouting out others who you feel deserve additional recognition and exposure. Who would you like to shoutout?
I would like to shout out to my family. When you talk about making a dream happen, they are the ultimate support system. My mother Cleo Martin has always instilled in her children creativity. If there was something we wanted she encouraged us to make it happen. Figure it out, create it, save for it, reinvent it, but don’t take “NO” for an answer. My sisters Cetonya Martin and Corrie Martin are the completion of all of my visions. We all bring our talents together for each other to make things happen. I can truly say I would not be where I am today without their love, support, effort, sweat equity, ideas and ingenuity. My cousin Trista Tanksley, who is a major contribution to the tax businesses success, uses her brains and talent to propel us forward. I also would not end without thanking a few other special people who uplift, influence and support me. I would like to thank Ehrlich Billingly, Pastor Renee Fowler and the Destiny Pointe Christian Center family, the Tanksley, Martin, Johnson, Thompson tribes and many others for continually being an example and encouraging forces in my life. As you can see, it is a family affair and I am so blessed to have these people in my corner.
